just in the process of swaping the turbo on my t jet and the one that is on is a vl37 and the new 1 is a vl36 i was told this is an abarth turbo but the size is no different am i going to gain anything changing it ? is it the internals that are different?

the abarth turbo unit is the same size its just the internals that are different IRRC:slayer:

yes this i think this is true , speak to red dot they can help you as they helped me , and they say you get better results from the abarth vl36/ vl38 turbo rather than the vl37 turbo !! :D

if you notice the turbo inlet turbine is actually completely different to the vl37 and the casing before it has been bored out a little. but external dimensions are the same as are all the oil and coolant feed locations,

youve got nothing to worry about, infact they share the same hot side casing & manifold so all i did was take out the cold side and slot the new one in carefully and re-attach the actuator so i didnt have to dettach the unit from the manifold :) its an easy job tbh as its front mounting in a comparitively spacious bay.

thankyou for the replies were on anyways seems a slight bit of improvement alot smoother and a bit more in the higher rev ranges just need to get it mapped again any good places and accurate with a rolling road?

thanks

yes the power was held further up the rev range and if you have a boost gauge youll notice the overboost function holding longer too ;)
