General 1.2 Won't Idle

No I havn't tried it yet, I havn't dismissed it yet either thats why I wrote 'surely it can't work' with a ?. that means I'm asking a question BTW. I wanted someone to confirm if it does work however instead people seem to be beant out of shape over it!?

My other car is a Citroen Xanita, I have also had in the past a Skoda Octavia, Renault Laguna, Citroen C5, Nissan Primera, two Hyundai Elantra's, a Ford Escort and two Skoda Favorits.

I have a tin of (wait for it!) CARB CLEANER!!!!! and a rag.

Well I've just tried it on my wife's 500 2008 and it works.
Cleaned throttle housing as stated then reset throttle ecu then bingo.
All faults gone and no more driving in limp mode (y)

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but my daughter's 1.2 has just come home doing the same thing. Quick question:

Does this have to be done from cold, or can it be done with the engine already hot (i.e. without the 10-15 minutes to wait for the fan to cut in (it'll be much less if the engine's already up to temp).

Also, it may be coincidence, but the clutch slave cylinder has started weeping. She was complaining about it crunching going into reverse and when she was sat at some lights with it in first gear, the engine idle speed dropped and then rose again as the idle speed control valve tried to fight it, but eventually it stalled. I'm wondering if the idle speed control valve has now gone beyond its normal operating range and has got stuck?

Make sure this is not a clutch related problem first.

Well, the salve cylinder is definitely leaking. New on on order. However, the idle is still all over the place even in neutral.
