Just bought this off ebay,
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Diesel-perfor...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4aa8682f5c
I know you guys will say to go with TMC but these guys are half the price and claim to use a computer chip not a resistor, have 3 year guarantee they also guarantee it wont damage the engine and you can have a full refund if your not satisfied so i thought the hell with it! ill buy one and see how it goes..

I got one a wee while ago, also from an Italian seller. Works a treat. Fuel economy has improved dramatically. According to computer it has gone from 42 MPG to 49 MPG. (Actually 40 MPG then to 46 MPG now). Much smoother power delivery too.
Going to get one from your seller for my wife's Corsa 1.3 CDTI.

okay, not going to comment on its performance as i have no idea about any of these dirty diseasel boxes
however on the claim it wont damage the engine.
what would you do if it did given they are based in Italy?
same with warranty. after 45-60 days you will have no Ebay help
so be aware of these factors when buying this type of item

your car so you buy what you want(y)

Tell us more...easy to fit, any settings, faster acceleration/top end etc:)

Hi T. It can be adjusted but I have left it at standard setting for improved fuel economy. I would definitely say that acceleration is much smoother. I don't really push the car so cannot comment on top speed, however, I can say that it cruises very smoothly at 100 on the AUTOBAHN
Basically, having owned two GPS cars since early 2006 I feel I am able to give an informed opinion and would definitely state that my tuning box is doing a turn for me. I took it off a few weeks ago and immediately noticed a difference. It has paid for itself already due to improved fuel economy.
PS. T, I am now taking 'chill pills' so my language should hopefully show an improvement!!!!

Yea i see where you guys are coming from with engine concerns. It would be an out of ebay mater if i did want to claim on the warranty, thats all i would need is a copy of the listing to prove that they said it was a 3 year guarantee and a copy of my receipt. If they wouldnt honor the warranty id simply take them to court i felt like i needed too. And the fact that they are based in italy doesn't bother me that much as i own a house out there. Also, whats to say TMC wont damage your car? Like all boxes, you would never really know until something happens!

Well ive got the box and it came super fast! next day delivery from Milan! ha. So i fitted it and what a difference. The car sounds exactly the same thank god, but it accelerates far more smooth now and has definitely more puch. Also seen a change in MPG. Took it on a straight road before i installed it and drove sensibly at a constant speed and got 52 MPG. Did exactly the same with the box and had got 59 MPG! can i hear a WOOP WOOP!? ha

Nice m8 i think you just made my mind up to get a tuning box to, how easy was it to fit ?

Easy! Its very easy to do with the plastic cover off the engine but thats a bit of hassle so the easiest way in my opinion is if your looking at the engine, go to the top left of it and ull see the connector that is just under the cover at the top left back, pull the yellow bit out out of the plug (not all the way just until its loose), remove the plug, connect your box to the engine by the socket you just removed the plug from, then connect the original engine plug to the box. It seems really confusing but its not. Its really easy. Everybody should have one! oh and remember, the instructions i just told you are for common rail diesel engines only! i have no idea about petrol! :D

Guys I'm not running the product down because I know nothing about it but I can tell you that we can't even make a digital common rail box for what you paid, when you take in the cost of the processor, PCB, plugs and loom and casing, then factor in Ebay fees and Paypal fees which should amount to £10 or so then a profit margin and VAT 20%, I find it difficult to believe that this could be a digital system, in other words a microprocessor controlled unit using a map fed in by laptop, not just altering a signal using resistors. Its £49.99, take off VAT £41.62 minus Ebay and Paypal fees £10 approx = £31.62 minus profit (I would expect any business to want to make £20 so that leaves £11.62 not alot to make a digital PCB, casing, plugs and loom.

I'd be interested if someone could take it apart and send me a photo of the PCB as I'd be happy to be proved wrong and curious as to how this if it is digital can be produced so cheaply.

If it is analogue it would make sense, you can make analogue for a couple of Euros, its nothing more than a few resistors from Maplin which cost pennies.

I posted up a link before of the VW PD tuning box that sells on Ebay for £15-45, a guy opened one up and dug out all the resin and silicone inside to find..... 1 resistor, cost to make about 10p!

If yours is genuinely digital then its ridiculously cheap, if its a resistor then like all those who bought the VW PD unit you've been raped.

The last negative feedback on his eBay for the same product for a different car says "Fraud case opened, Items are fake and do not work Police case UK Be Warned"

I am guessing the insides are not exactly what they make them out to be but it would be great if you had to the time to take a look at yours and let us know?

Cheers

Yea i will do. Ive actually taken it off the car. Ill open it up tomorrow now and post some photos up asap.

I've tried to tell people before nothing is free in life and you really do get what you pay for, I think my reasoning makes sense when you break the price down as I did.

There are about 5 companies all from Italy (same location) selling variations of the same thing with almost identical ads (half naked girls/flames/+50bhp and 20% better economy), after a while they disappear and a new one pops up. You can draw your own conclusions.

Yea fair enough TMC. I am going to open it up and ill tell you what i find.

if there is a chip on a board try and look under it and also put post up if there is any numbers on the chip, not long ago there was boxes with a 10p resistor hidden un a chip on a board, chip was just some scrap out of an old tv or some thing like that

TMC how much do you charge for your product and what are the differences?

Also easily can it be installed/hidden.

Thanks

Can vouch for TMC to. Quick delivery despite me ordering mine during the horrendous weather during last December. Great communication an support aswel as a good product at a good price. I dont work for them by the way just a satisfied customer!(y)

Very easy to install although you could do with small hands as its a bit fiddley. Took me about 20 minutes. I just tie wrap mine in near the battery so it is secure. Not sure it needs to be 'hidden' as such.
