hi i have serched the forum but i carnt find out, soo here goes im wanting to put footwell lights into my car buit insted of wireing the to the interier light can i not do it to the door switch? if so can you tell me the colours of pos and neg pleasee and is it the little black rubber thing on the door frame thanks?

It makes no odds which is live and neg as light bulbs work either way. plus with cars you'll find theres only one wire that is switched and that'll be the live, for the neg just attached a wire to anything metal on the car body as its grounded to that battery.

as others have said it would be easier to connect them to the current interior light otherwise you'll have to run wires to both doors unless you just want them to come on with the drivers door and not the passengers?
 
agreed with the interior light, i was going to wire into the door switch but was much easier and same effect on interior light. no problems with it looks flush and then wired in some custom exterior lights under the handles.
 
ill make an assumption that black is neg and yellow is pos, however its easier to clamp them to the metal around the light make sure you complete a circuit ie pos&neg and the wire doesnt touch both parts, there is a guide on here which has pics that explain better than i do
