Yo,

Got in last night, had the windows open to let a little fresh air in as i was driving home (something i like doing) pulled the switches up to close both windows, my side shut fine, passenger side FAIL. My passenger window is now a black bag.

Now; when i press the switch down i hear the relay switch the motor to tell it to go down, so i was sure it wasnt the fuse (and after locating said fuse anyway I confirmed the fuse was in fact, intact) but i need to know whether its a) the relay in the fuse box under the bonnet or B) its the motor or regulator.

What im asking for is, has anyone experienced this?
does anyone know what relay controlls what under the bonnet?
where i could get any replacement parts for the motor/regulator from at a decent price?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Fozz

grippy gloves? you mean latex gloves? how did you grip it though there is only like 1 mm of glass showing!

ok, ill try pulling the window up tonight, i did try last night, i took the door panel off and the membrane too and tried to pull it up but had no luck. is this a regular fault?

Yes, I have checked the switch and it works fine, both drivers side and passengers side for the passenger window, the contacts on it are fine. I have found the problem is the window has got "jammed" as in the wind must of shunted it too low and the motor controlling the winding system is jammed. BUT I cannot pull the window up as the motor is jammed nor can i remove it from the motor system as i cant get my hands in. right now. i hate fiat and my car.

Same problem here. :(

Fozz, did you ever figure this out? Your last post is a week old... I hope you haven't been driving with a black plastic bag all this time!

A few weeks ago it happened, the passenger window was not coming up, after a few minutes it just started working again. It was good for a few weeks and yesterday, again, lowered it down and then it wouldn't come up, but this time it didn't start working after a few minutes. My passenger window is now stuck open and I can't get it closed!

I'll try suggestions seen on this and other forums tomorrow morning before I ring the dealer to take it in (I still have 1 month of warranty left ;)) Things in the lights of checking the driver's side switch or trying to apply pulling force up to try to get it un-jammed, etc...

Nope... couldn't get it to work myself. On my way to the dealer in about an hour. :bang:

Hear me out right, this is actually funny. I was on my way to the dealer, and as soon as I was ariving, the bloddy thing decides to just start working!!! :bang:
And no matter how many times I lowered the window it wouldn't fail even once. Good olde Murphy's law.
The mechanic simply took the driver's side switch out, reset the connection and said it was loose and that was probably the cause of it. Of course, I had done the exact same thing this morning.
I would like to hear other people's experiences with this, I have a feeling that this will come and bite me back. I want to be prepared with a solution.

broken wires in the drivers door loom pull back the rubber sleeve that the wiring loom runs through and hey presto broken wires you can easily repair them with the aid of a soldering iron, some solder and a length of heat shrink.

I have the same problem. The drivers window sometimes doesn't open. I hear the motor trying, but the window doesn't open. What is the cost of a regulator ( if that is the problem)?

I had this once one night, I found that stopping, turning off the engine and restarting the engine after about 5 mins fixed the problem, very strange as its never happened since

Hi,
i've just had a similar problem. My passenger window will go down but not up. i've bought another regulator as the electrical test showed it was getting the correct voltage +12.5 up and -12.5 down, but still it only goes down! is this just bad luck or is there something else?

mine is stuck up and won't go down, it wants to go up when i press the switch but its obvioulsy can't go up anymore but it doesn't even try to go down ive tried both switches aswell

I fear it's a well know design fault...don't pay the dealer prices tho...track down your friendly local auto electrician !!!

Really old thread, but my experiences may help someone. I had the "passenger window went down half way, but wouldn't go up, but would go all the way down into the door" problem.

Turns out it was the switch on the passenger door. BUT, and here's the crunch, the drivers side won't work if the passenger side switch is faulty because the power goes through the passenger side switch which ever side you use.... even if the window doesn't work with either switch it may still be the passenger switch. Which is way cheaper to fix than buy a new window motor.:)

Hi,

I have simillar problems with L and R window.
In my case, there was problem od the window switch, you just need to take switch off and clean the connections.

Problem was solved in 3 different Punto mk2.

Good luck! ?
