Does anyone know if the steering wheel from the 500 is a straight swap to the Grande Punto?

i wouldnt want to say either way
but i bought some abarth 500 seats assuming they would fit in my GP and a few people on here said they would go in but they didnt :bang:
so i had to make brackets to fit.

i wouldnt have thought the steering wheels would be much different but i wouldnt put it past fiat

best bet is to ask at the dealer

Yeah, think i might have to ask Fiat. Looking at them they look the same size but as you say fitment could be different. I want to put the Abarth 500 steering wheel on, the flat bottom on it makes it look so much better.

I would contact your dealer, im in a similar position, my dealer have quoted £60 to swap for different steering wheel but thats for a different grande one. have you got the wheel? cos they're quite pricey themselves £250-£350 on ebay

I'd be concerned that although the wheel may look the same, the airbag maybe a different shape or size. I personally wouldn't go there. If my wheel was looking tatty I'd opt for a re-trim and flat bottoms are actually a pain to use.

You would need to get a 500 airbag to go with the wheel as they are different shapes.

I know I would need the airbag aswell, I mean if I had the steering wheel and air bad would it be a case of take grande one off n put 500 one on or is the actual fitment and size of the wheel different?

No no, what I mean is that the size and shape of a deployed airbag is designed to give optimal protection in the specific vehicle it is fitted to. So a 500 airbag deploying in a gp may not offer the correct protection to the occupants. The driving position, dashboard shape, proximity of the a pillars and proximity of other passengers will all have been considered when designing the restraint system. On top of that, lots of airbags are multi-stage these days so they adapt to the occupant's weight, size and the crash severity.

What I'm trying to say is that an airbag is not just an airbag.

You seem to of misunderstood me, i'm not asking if the air bag will work or fit i'm asking if anyone knows if a steering wheel and airbag from an abarth 500 would fit and work in the grande punto. e.g does the back of the steering wheel have the same size hole as my orginal one and are all the electronic connectors the same (steering wheel audio controls, air bag & horn)

The short answer is that I don't know. I just wanted to make sure that you were aware that you may be compromising safety if you do swap.
