ok, so here's my dilemma. i have just fixed my split breather pipe (i'm impressed with myself!) but i managed to nacker my air box in the process.(i'm not too chuffed about this!) . now, a new air box will cost it seems in the region of £100 but i could just get a K+N induction kit for £60. is this a wise move? i've heard there is a better make but i'm not doing it for performance reasons but i was wandering if there was any downside to the k+n? mpg reduction?

any help greatly appreciated. thanks.

the k+n will breathe in hot air= bad times

what damage have u done as i split my airbox along the seame as used a silicone sealant to join it back and it works fine (y)

You will also need to declare the K&N to your insurance company as it would be a modification which could obviously increase your premium.

i snapped off the part that the breather connects to. i could probably fix it with some epoxy putty but i need to use the car every day and it might take a bit too long to dry, i don't know.

when you say bad times, what do you mean exactly. i'm not that bright when it comes to engines unfortunately.

hi
sorry for being vague

an engine runs much better if it has cold air coming in as it is much denser.
therefore with the K&N filter sitting onto of the intake manifold it will draw in hot air that the engine gives off so decreasing performance.

and tbh on the 1.2 (i have one aswell :p) u need all the power u can get
