General Tyre Choice

Well a. I said i didnt really want to for that price unless all others are rubbish b. I have the originals on my car still and i really dont rate them that much!

I may well get slated for this but what about nankang ns2, personaly i have found in the dry they are very good you can realy throw the car about, the grip is as good premium tyres costing 3 times the price, they offer good feedback, wear very well and at £42 a corner they are significantly cheaper than the compitition.Below is a link

peter7889 im with you there on the Nankangs....had them before on a FIESTA ST150 and a FOCUS ST170.....extremely good tyres for the price.....

I have 2 Continentals, a PZero Nero and a Maxxis tyre.. Therefore I can't rate any of them :bang:

I'm probably gonna be buying new tyres soon so I'm also unsure what to go for.
I'm surprised at people saying the Nankangs are good, I expected them to be crap, considering the Toyos are basically twice the price, are the Nankangs better than half as good as the Toyos? If you understand my logic there ;)

What are the best tyres for reducing road noise on a Tjet?

Pirelli P Zero Nero or Kumho Ecsta Sport are very quiet on the MJet Sporting.

I'd love to try the Continentals, if I had the money I definitely would. I would not bother with Potenzas, they are noisy and do not last at all.

Most mileage I ever got from the Potenzas was 14k, P zero nero gave about 18k, kumhos will pretty much double that, they are cheap, quiet, offer good roadholding, good ride, perform well in the rain, dry, they are hopeless in snow though! I reckon they are as good as the Pirellis.

You may try Nankangs, they have a good reputation, a friend of mine is a mechanic and his massively modified E36 seems to work well with them.

In the dry i think the nankangs are very good, they have very high levels of drip, good feedback and nice stiff side walls. They are more than half as good as toyos, they are up there with toyos.

In the wet toyos are better but you can't have it all your own way for £40 a tyre, personaly i only realy push my car hard on dry days any way.

i've got Kumho's on mine. 215/40/17 so similar size. decent tyres :)

i also had the pirelli's you're looking at on my last car and i would recommend. kumho's are cheaper though.

I don't know what car you have, but I've got 195 Continental Premium Contact 2 on all fours.

{Grande 1.9 MJet Diesel.}

I previously had this only on the front (some dealer ones on the rear) but have them all round now (with the older front ones moved to the back). They do well, including in the wet and give me the confidence needed - not lost control yet. :D

Braking good, wear is reasonable and the feel is fine.
Drag is possibly the cause of a slightly lower fuel efficiency (drove back alongside a mate - a slow driver) on the M6 last year and my fuel efficiency was the same as his 206 but that's just my guess.
Can't complain but I admit they are a bit more expensive.

I'm not sure that they're the best value for money but I do *feel* safe driving in the wet.

Bought a set of Kumho KH17 tyres a couple of weeks ago for just under £50 per corner from blackcircles.com. So far, so good.

Low noise and seem to have bags of grip.
