Hi all
Got a noise coming from drivers side rear worse when people are in the back seat or going over speed humps
checked the spring seems okay a bit corrosion around the base but didnt move when forced
lubed the bearing think its a bearing at the front off the suspension arm
but it has not cured the problem all torx bolts are tight and shock had no movement when i was pulling on it
anyone replaced the bearing or bush at the front of the suspension arm
is it easy?

What kind of noise is it?

Check to make sure the back seats are firmly in place - sometimes if they have been put down they don't always sit back in place correctly when put back up again. I had a similar issue, thought it was the rear suspension which although still does squeak slightly, a lot of the noise actually came from rear suits. I wrapped insulation tape around the receptors and this cured a lot of it for me.

its a metal knocking noise

Took the car for a drive with the rear seats folded also tried with rear hatch open and still got the noise

its not the the door catches its a three door
sitting in the back with some one else driving the noise comes from the suspension area dont think its the shocker or its mounts every thing seems tight where are the drop links on the rear?

I have the exact same problem, another member on here said it could be the top mounts after sitting in my car, but I have no idea, there was no play in the wheel or anything at all.

Bit confusing to how its making the noise, and its only on spring compression over speed humps and certian other bumps. Passenger rear for me though

I have some really low frequency thudding coming from the rear, sounds like a piece of wood knocking on metal (yeah impossible i know) but thats best way I can describe it. Only noticable at 50+mph. A deformed tyre perhaps?

If its your rear might be rear bearings, as its at speed one of them might be shot, supposidly not that difficult or expensive for you to do yourself.

What is being described by the OP and myself is a low speed thud (and spring compression sound) when going over a speed hump or bump in the road at 5mph plus.

This is coming from a rear suspension strut area and not the boot lid and is not at high speeds. (OP please correct me if im wrong)

Yes definitely the rear
Had the car into a garage yesterday car over the pit and jacked up so the suspension did not have any weight on mechanic and me both looking for the problem priseing all the bushes with a crow bar they had a small amount of flex but as the mechanic said you expect a bit of play as they are rubber but not enough play to concern him
I have had to turn the passenger side rear tyre on the rim today as the tyre is wearing on the outside edge there is no toe in or out adjustment for the rear wheels so i think i will change both of the large rear bushes at the front of the rear suspension the next time my daughter is back from uni

Ever find out what was wrong with this? i might be taking mine to a stealer for them to have a quick look at as they owe me a favour! If I do find anything out will let you know

i may have a solution

i had this noise

i had taken my car to Research Fiat in nuneaton for new brake shoes.
about a day or two after i heard an increasingly loud clucnking noise from there rear suspension

i took off the rear wheel and found that the bolts holding the drum on hadnt been tightened up properly

once put back together all was fine :)

but tbh i was appauled at the service :(
