I have recently accquired a spare wheel for my m-jet that I will put in my boot as a spare. I currently have the compressor kit but no jack. I have looked up the weight of the car and as far as I can gather it is 1.8 tonnes. correct me if im wrong. Can someone advise where the best place is to buy a reasonable jack?

cheers

Anywhere. Scissor jacks are very common. Amazon have them, as does any scrap-yard.

The one you need has a slot in the top to accomodate the body below the sill. This one is a good choice. 1 Tonne Scissor Jack: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools

You only need a 1 tonne rated jack, by the way, being as three quarters of the weight will remain on the floor during jacking. Ask any alloy-wheel thief. :)

A telescopic wheel-brace (Lidl etc) is helpful.

Get one off ebay mate, i got one second hand but its pretty much unused. I think the GP and Punto wheel brace kits are the same. Plus the plastic insert sits nicely inside the wheel and holds everything together so it doesnt rattle

The plastic insert from an old punto? as in http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FIAT-PUNTO-MK...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item588bc40efc

surely it will rattle around? as the wheel size of an original spare would be smaller than a 17??
looks like the jack doesnt fit in the insert...

this is the same as what i got:

I've jus got a steel wheel in mine, fits perfectly into there...doubt it would rattle in the 17 inch alloy as you have the bolt in the centre to hold it down
