Hi guys, new here and just picked up an 08 model grande punto last week, having downsized from a 1.6 Skoda Octavia, and so far, I'm more than happy with it:D recession and all that, especially here in Ireland.

What I want to do is swap out the stereo for a sony CDX-GT35U which are going quite cheap in Halfords at the moment, My question is will a standard sony patch lead hook straight up for my steering controls, or do I need to get a seperate adaptor as well. i.e Autoleads PC99-X89.I have already ordered fascia panel. Given that the sony comes with the following in the box,do I just need patch lead, or patch lead and adaptor
  • Instruction manual
  • ISO connector
  • JASO - ISO for antenna
  • 16pin connector
  • Warranty card
  • Metal mounting cage
Standardising stereo fitment, would make this a hell of a lot easier

Halfords should able to tell you if you need more than the patch lead to hook up to the stalk control. IIRC they usually require a control box from Autoleads/ Connect 2 for their kit. Again don't quote me if I am wrong on this...

Yes, you will need both the Sony Patch lead, and also the Autoleads PC99-X89, in order to retain the steering controls. But first you will have to make sure that the Sony Unit is compatible. It should have a blue 3.5mm jack point in the rear.

You cant mix and match manufacturer, i.e autoleads and connects 2. Halfords sell them, will cost about £35 for both, or you can get them off ebay for £20 ish.

They are very easy to install.
