Tuning Garrett GT1548 turbo

Whats the point? Get a turbo off the abarth for £250ish. Remap it and your at 170-180bhp. Saves pissing around getting custom mani and flanges made up. Money spent on getting that done could get you exhaust, induction, intercooler, and injectors to get you near enough 200bhp.

Hmm true. Does forge have an induction kit yet for the abarth turbo as im guessing itll be slightly bigger and their site says they dont?

Everything else i want/need is sorted.

This turbo is slightly larger than the esseesse one and noticably larger than VL36.The upper limit of 200hp is a bit underestimated from Garrett as there are already Tjets running on this turbo and producing around 220-230hp..Intercooler is a must btw..

George do you know what all was changed to make the turbo fit?

Sure.Water lines to the turbo cartridge need to be upgraded and a custom exhaust manifold is a definate must.Downpipe modifications also need to be done.

However, its not only about getting to fit the turbo in the engine. In order to push it to 220-230hp other parts need to get uprated too.

I would recon that its a decent turbocharger for someone that would like more than 190hp from his tjet.Up to 190hp, VL36 can do the job nicely too.. ;)

Is it a case of just taking t-jet turbo out and fitting abarth turbo onto it? :\

I haven't personally done it myself, but yes they are a straight swap, you will probably want to upgrade the intercooler and get a remap to help get the best out of the turbo

is anybody looking to get rid of a forge front mount, i have my abath turbo but need a gsr and a fmic. if anybodys got one knocking around?
its a straight swap, but it needs a map otherwise the ecu flags up and puts it into limp mode.
