Hi Everyone,

Anyone know how to get into the back of the Air Temperature Knob on the dash board?

The light bulb behind mine doesn't appear to be working, however, the lights are working behind the Fan Activation / Speed Adjustment Knob & Air Distribution Knob.

I think it must just be a bulb blown but don't know how to get into it to replace it?

Cant find anything in the book of words!

Cheers

Darth

Take the radio out and using gloves (sharp bits in there!), a small torch and a mirror you might be able to get at it. Failing that you will have to remove the trim around the console.

Cheers for that. Seems a bit crazy just to get to the bulb....tempting but think gonna leave it. The car is still under warranty but doubt it will be covered!!!

Bit miffed that the bulb has gone so quickly....only 2 year old, never had any of these bulbs go in my previous cars???

No point moaning about it but it is a bit annoying especially with it bein darker when I leave work now

Cheers

Darth

That's annoying. Are these thing's 'proper' filament bulbs or LED's? I noticed the panel illlumination on my car was on with the ignition, so I've turned the illumination down to 6 with the + - buttons. I kinda hoped that this would make the bulbs last longer. :-(

Thanks, no the + - on my 2010 GP adjust the panel lights and the dash display says 'illumination 1 -8' - there a separate h/lights up/down pair too.

Oh, this might help

Perhaps Wellfan was having a bad lightbulb day. :) I just checked my car, the +- buttons dim the radio and dash panel, but NOT the heater area lights. So, two years down the line I'll be swapping bulbs.

Maybe if I run the car on Shell V-Power it will stop the bulbs blowing. A guy on the VW forum said it had cured his warts....

Just noticed the same issue with my temperature bulbs. Funnily enough it happened just after I put V-power diesel in, so that definitely won't help, Mozarella...

I thought V-Power seemed over-rated.

I've dangled some 'lucky heather' from the centre console. I'll be danged if I'm paying £1.28 for a lightbulb in two years time.

:life:

I changed the same one on mine a couple of days ago, piece of cake to replace !. Pull out the stereo, take the front off the heater control (6 clips, 3 at the top and three at the bottom), then you will find two separate bulbs one for each side. Get youself a new one 75p and fit it. (y)

Would you bloody well believe it, mine went last night, the one that lights up the right hand control knob. How do I get the friggin Radio/CD player out, do you have to have a special tool ???? or does it push out from the inside right of the glovebox ????

There is a tool you can buy or use a couple of small allen keys or even make some out of a coat hanger to insert in the holes on the front.

It's the two bits of bent coat-hanger for you, Scotty m'lad. I note we're getting all these bulb failures since the clocks went back. I knew we should have left them alone. I've just driven home in the dark, hoping my heater bulbs would make it round the M25. :-(
