I have a 2007 Grande Punto (bottom of the range one) that's done 35000 miles. I've owned it from new and it's been serviced by the dealer every 10k miles.
Just recently I've started to hear a rattling noise at low revs. It seems to have got worse over the last couple of days.
I've read lots of other posts on here about similar noises but none of them end in a solution.
Anyone had this problem and actually solved it?
Just recently I've started to hear a rattling noise at low revs. It seems to have got worse over the last couple of days.
- When car is idling and I press the accelerator briefly the noise happens as the revs come to back down.
- When I'm driving the noise is more constant and happens much more in low gears and under strain (uphill, roundabout etc). The noise stops if a jab my foot on the clutch to drop the revs right down.
- With my head in the drivers footwell the noise seems to be coming from just inside the wheel arch.
- From the wheel arch it seems to be coming from just inside the arch wall (like where the alternator is).
- Looking down at the engine I can't hear the noise anywhere near as distinct as when I'm in the car so it's really hard to pinpoint.
