well, here's the landmark....

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

just been touring on a camping holiday, did about 1,000 miles in the week and topped the magic 100k :) original turbo/clutch/gearbox ect, all drives like new (y)

well done fiat :)

Thats realy good wish my mjet was so reiable, mine has only done 36,000 and has had both front springs replaced, both front drop links replaced, rear engine mount replaced and it currantly needs both front wish bones doing.
It just shows how two identical cars can be compleatly differant i think i have brought a friday car or at least the suspention was done on a friday.

Awesome Sharky!

How many of the miles are on the Angel tuning remap?

Thanks man :) the angel map was done at 4,000 miles just after I considered it "run in" been totally reliable, unlike some others

and peter, true, you may have a friday car, my previous car was a fabia vRS and my gearbox failed at 40k, I believe mine was the only fabia vRS I know of (and on briskoda) to have a gearbox failure! lol... very unusual, its the box on the 220bhp audi TT and it only had to handle 160bhp, but hey, this one (the punto) is a good one, and I intend to keep her...

watch this space, got a quote from turbo dynamics for a hybrid unit, and I know someone who will do me a very good custom map, so I may go down that route soon... I expect a turbo to last 100k, but most go between the 100 to 140k mark, so I may bite the bullet, and get a hybrid on before the turbo gives out....... (y)

Quality Sharkey... top stuff. Mines approaching 73k miles now & will be up for sale or part-ex in the next few weeks, its a good un like yours so someone could buy a real winner. Still running strong & reliable, love the car to bits but I want a change after 4 years, longest I've kept a car & I cant believe how good it is still!

Ffoxy has yours got the sun roof? :chin:

And excellent work, You must do some mega mileage. I thought I was high mileage but I've just ticked over 99k on my 05 Punto Sporting.

To be honest I think higher mileage drivers are the ones that tend to suffer less mechanical problems probably due to it being in use.

Hi Chris, no, no sunroof. I didnt spec it see... spur of the moment purchase way back then. Fiat dealer offered me 4,500 P/X against a 165T Mjet Bravo, up for 11,999 on a 59 plate with 7k miles on, but TBH after the Grande the Bravo felt sluggish & ponderous. DPF issues put me off too... plus I dont do dieseltastic miles anymore. So it will be petrol for me this time around, I'll miss the Chicolita Punto tho...

so what are you thinking for your next motor then foxy?

Blimey... I posted a list of the ones to be considered but binned them all for one reason or another & have settled on...

A Hyundai i30 1.6 Premium... petrol version.... all the gadgets for the money, just gotta get past the Badge snobbery as I did when I bought the Fiat... it'll be a couple of years old, 1 owner, low miles & have the remainder of the 5 year Warranty left. Black, dark grey or white will be fine... no red car for me & the GPS is blue... there is only a 5 colour range....silver is Yuk...

But hey I ain't going to judge, Just hope you have good luck with it like you've had with your Punto!

I bet its a dull soulless car to own though .

Mine is on 69k now, its had a clutch, DMF, alternator, rear wheel bearing and both top strut mounts, it did have a hard life though till I got my van, it gets molly coddled now though

Post 13.... :-(
:) Yep... dull as dishwater Chris I guess... but the guys on the i30 Forum do good things with them (rear splitters, twin zorsts... for the young 'uns) and not many real complaints, just people worried about daft stuff like a high tick-over when cold etc... the big thing is the warranty of course... and we make our own luck mostly (y)

If the Bravo was sluggish, whats the 1.6 Hyundai going to be like??? I have driven the Kia Cee'd 1.6 the sister car to the Hyundai. I thought that was very sluggish in comparison to my 120 m-jet. I initially thought it was a 1.4

Its slower but I can live with it. The 1.6 i30 is far better specc'd than the C'eed as Hyundai are the parent company. Its 120BHP and a much lighter modern VVT motor versus the good old MJet derivative of the JTD. I could have coped with the Bravo if there was no concerns about the DPF.....

off topic, but i quite like the i30. Was v.suprised in our one work one!

Glad you had a sample Mr 1.8 Stilo, I wouldnt ever have anything bad said about the GPS, fun, attractive to look at & reliable as far as my personal experience goes. Its the finer things where it fell short, looked over the Evo GPs at my local dealer but I didnt feel the same buzz my old GPS gave me when I first saw that. IMO it really is a case of badge snobbery, & again, IMO, ruling the i30 out as a potential purchase could be a mistake.

Anyway, whatever lucky person buys my ex car wll have a bundle of fun!
