Hi,

I have a 09 T-Jet with 14000 miles on the clock. When I brake I hear a crunching, grinding sound - are the brakes knackered?

To be honest, they were doing it since i bought the car. The brakes are crap and i have to apply a lot of pressure - just getting progressively worse. You get what you pay for I guess!

My Brakes are excellent, always have been TBH...

Wow 14k, you must be abusing it!

^^ Agree with that, although I have done the same before on an old 1.25 Zetec fiesta

If you have been abusing it and the pedal has pretty much touched the floor when you have been braking, you have most probably boiled your brake fluid in the calipers, so if you do a full brake fluid change when you replace the pads then you should see much improved braking. Once brake fluid has been boiled its pretty crap to brake with

I've done over 20,000 on a 59 plate :D got to love the 80 mile round trip to work.

Although that said sometimes my breaks do feel a bit strange, don't know if its the ABS kicking in is it over sensitive?
