Hi all,
I noticed a slight problem a while ago with the interior fans, I could hear a faint "rattle" when they were on, as though something was trapped in the airflow path. It went away after a day or so, so I thought nothing of it. This past week it has become insanely loud, and as long as the fans are on it is constant, regardless of whether set to demist, head level blowers or footwell blowers.
I narrowed the source of the sound down to the passenger footwell, and knew from the guides on this forum that is where the pollen filter resides, so I thought I'd check it out. I removed the piece of trim, and lo and behold, no pollen filter!!
There is literally just a gap where the pollen filter once lived, no filter holder there or anything. I have never had the car serviced by Fiat, and the mechanic who does it for me has not touched the pollen filter, so it must have not been present since I bought it (January 2009). On top of that, I cannot spot anything obviously trapped that I can remove, but it could be anywhere since there is no pollen filter in place.
So, my questions are:
Ben
EDIT:- It is a 1.2 Active by the way, just in case that makes any difference (ie I've heard pollen filters are only in models with air con?)

So, my questions are:
- Is the tapping likely to be down to a lack of pollen filter? Or is there definitely something stuck in there? If so, is it easy for me to investigate and hopefully remove, or would it be a dealer job, and would it be a costly one at that?
- How much (roughly) do Fiat dealers charge to replace a pollen filter and also a new pollen filter holder? Or should I be entitled to it for free since it was clearly never there since purchase? I'd happily do it myself but I don't know where to get a pollen filter holder from!
