How do I remove the gear knob on my tjet, I would like to shorten the length of the leaver but keep the standard leather knob?

Take a firm grip of the knob (no joke intended honest) turn anticlockwise, it screws off, not sure how your going to shorten it, but never the less thats how you get it off.

I managed to get it off last night just after I posted this but thanks for your help anyway!! :), I work in a metal shop so I plan on making a shaft to slip over the remaining lever (cutting it down), grub screw it on and slip it all back together, that way I have short throw with standard knob graiter etc :)

Well I now have a sleeve made up and it's ready to fit after work, I got a bit of 20mm tube cut down to 70mm, drill and tapped 2holes m6 for the bolts to hold it on and welded a bolt to the top of the tube, I did mess up the bolt needs to be 70mm long mines 35 so welded a bit of stud to the top to make up the length! Pictures will be up tonight of what I made before and after!! This forum needs tapatalk!! Would be so much easier on an iPhone!!

Oh thats gonna hurt so bad - lol

Sorry mate but negative comments not welcome! I had an idea I have tried it and it bloody works! It looks standard rather than a tacky aftermarket knob and grater but one heck of a lot lower! If you don't like what I am doing to MY car then don't read or leave comments at www.mypuntosperfect.com :) rant over :)

I'm pretty sure his quip was more a smutty pun than a criticism! :)

Do you find any leverage problems with a shorter stick?

Seems you have lost you sense of humour mate - i was refering to your "grater" whereas i think you mean gaiter.:shakehead:

Even though my comments were not negative, you cannot expect everyone to agree with you - thats why it's a forum.
