Mines always kicked in at the same time anjd there certainly isnt a loss of power, Not that im aware of anyways ! Still rockets ! Just howls : P All I've heard is if the turbo is taking oil from the engine thats when you need to be careful or get the turbo replaced

im going to get a hybrid i think, but i need the part number so i can get a new turbo  dont want to mod my current one, rather be safe than sorry, service coming up soon, hopfully theres oil in there

By the way, I love you punto. Looks fantastic! And yeah, I dont know how true the oil statement is but he works for Motex, An automotive part company.

Thank you (y), your punto looks good too, they all do and they dont neeed much work on them because they look so good, i dont like it when chavs stick halfords to it and ruin the styling :bang:

I don't think mines remapped (need get it on a RR) but I can always hear my turbo spool up at the slightest hint of throttle then when I boot it I can here the boost come, in the usual turbo (woooop-tsch) noise:devil: However sometimes the boost doesn't seem to come until about 16-1800 whereas most of the time its about 12-1300 rpm. It's almost as if it forgets its' settings every now and then:confused:

As for the eating oil comment.
I know with my Dad's Renault 1.9 DCi engine if the turbo goes you must stall the car on purpose. As when *that particular turbo/engine* blows a turbo, it eats all the engines oil and spews it into the engine itself instead of air, ruining the engine(n)

Called diesel runaway - your pretty screwed if this happens..

And is it me, or are 90%+ of the people reporting whining/failing turbos on an 06/56 reg mjet?
