This is sh4dow's car btw, I'm just asking the questions 'cos I'm at work and bored

When she first starts the car from cold and puts it into either first or reverse for the first time it always crunches, but is smooth as silk after that first gear. Is there any adjustment in the clutch cable that I can try to eliminate this?

Also, she recently reversed into a parking space and the exhaust tip knocked a brick sticking (low) out of the wall. Since then there is a throaty blowing sound at low revs, but I was under the car yesterday doing an oil/filter change and couldn't see any obvious damage.

It's in for an MOT on Monday and she's asked them to have a look at the exhaust system for any obvious issues so what do you reckon?

there is no synchromesh on the first and reverse just needs double de-clutching if the car is not stationary at the time

how high was the brick you can't even see the tail pipe its level with the valence women drivers and all that (expects a slap next time i bump into sh4dow )

only thing i can think you can do to check is to get her to put her hand over it (be a gent and make sure its cold first ) whilst its running whilst you have a crawl about start with the weld at the back box its a full one piece pipe to the flexi bit of water and washing up liquid might help

Re: gears. Car is always stationary when it happens, it is always when the car is first started and always when the first (either 1st or reverse) gear is engaged.

As far as the exhaust goes I wondered about that too, it hangs down a little but still not sure how it managed to get hit and the fact that it is a single piece I couldn't see any obvious gaps anywhere. Won't get a chance to look at it before it goes in on Monday so will see what they come back with.

Going back to the gears, no synchro on first??!? I expected that from the 126 but even the Sei has synchro on first!!
