I seem to have the common fault with this sensor - the temp gauge regularly shows -20 deg and says "danger of ice".

This is causing a bit of a problem as its 28 to 30 deg in the shade at the moment here, and it switches the b****y heater on !!

To get at the sensor, do I need to remove the mirror glass, or remove the mirror cover?

To replace the sensor, I removed the cover of the mirror, the mirrorglass and the cover on the stalk to get to the plug.
Its an easy fix and a new sensor is not that expensive. (I paid about 12 euro at a Fiatdealer).

The only problem I had, was some of the snapcatches in the plastic broke. But the plastic was brittle due to low temperature at the time.
You shouldnt have have problem in Greece.
Only tool used was a screwdriver.

Thanks Mads, I will give it a go. :)

I had the same thing. Mine stuck at -2 and the heater was on as well..

I took the negative pole of the battery off for a couple of hours and when I put it back on the temp was ok. Its been 10 days since then and the temp is still ok..
