I have just had my 2nd year service it was a low mileage one as was my first year. I was charged £199 for the first year and £280 this year not too hsppy coz now im skint was wandering what other people where charged at thier local dealer and names of them next year i could be saying goodbye to Glyn Hopkin buckhurst hill.

Any ideas if this is the going rate or they saw me coming?

Don't even bother with low mileage services! They are pointless in every single way.

If you are doing low miles, you are making the engine work a lot harder than you would if you were doing hyper miles on motorways every day. It's a false economy and your car should, if anything, get better quality services more often.

With regard to your question - there are certain parts that need replacing at different intervals. Without checking my service book, I'm unable to check what these are - but I'd bet a good amount of money that this is what's made the second service more expensive. Unless inflation really is biting now

yer ive checked they did exactly the same thing, th only reason i have it done is because of the warranty but tht ends next year but i wud like to still take it too a fiat shop just because i want genuine fiat parts etc.. i may start doing them myslef tbh if i can find service kits/parts needed but then i dnt know how to produce a record so tht i have a full service history anyone know?

Unless you want to set up as a VAT registered garage, get a stamp and whack it in your service book, you can't really. You can buy service packs from FIAT dealers - if I were you, I'd take this to a local garage of your choice and get them to do the service. This will save about 50% on the labour costs that way.

loads dealers do full 2nd year service for £149-199, remember thats brakes bleed,air/oil filter, spark plugs and all wheel off etc Its a 2 hour service.

Unfortuantely its a bit late to complain after the service has been paid for.

Pick the right time of the month and you can negotiate with your Fiat dealer to get the prices down from the menu.

As pointed out elsewhere, you don't need to have your car serviced by a Fiat dealer to maintain your warranty. A service invoice showing OEM parts from a garage will suffice. I can almost guarantee you paid for oil at £1m per barrel price too.

Thats right i saved over 50 % fiat quoted me £230 for a forth year service that they described as a small one because apparently alot is done on the third year one just a pitty the price wasn't small.

So a asked what they where actualy going to do for £230 and it was basicaly a posh oil service, change oil /filter and air filter and check the breaks, wheel bearings etc ect. I went to my local ford garage and they did the same thing for £100 they also gave the car a free health check and gave me a list of the things they checked and how worn they are, and stampted my book to great garge.

You can't have a 1.9MJ Sporting then! The 4th year service on one of those is quite a hefty one...

Glyn hopkin fiat quoted me a massive £346 today for my service.

But, after reading the manual, i found out that as long as the garage you use is VAT registered and uses the correct oil etc (plus stamps your book) then the warranty is covered.

wrong, 3rd year is just about same as first, fourth is like second (more detailed)

Well i do, and the woman said at fiat as the car had, had a major third year service i only required a small forth year one. I am no servicing expert, fiat took my reg they knew everying about the car, if u don't believe them who do u beleive

the tech uses new clean gloves

or is it they actually replace the oil filter rather than clean it up with a bit of WD-40 :chin:


Its also worth noting that if the car does a lot of town driving the cam belt should be changed sooner due to the increased work load..


I was quoted £180 for a "major" service by a local indi for my 4th year, in the end i did it myself (but thats my choice) full fiat service kit for my 1.2 cost £40 off flea bay + £17 for the oil and a bit of time..

Just paid £199 for a service for a 1.9MJ Sporting at a Fiat dealer. It would have been the cars 3rd service and they were going to charge me £135 for an annual service but I paid extra to get more changed as I wasn't going to pay £135 for effectively an oil change.

Dealer was Fiat Piccadilly in Wakefield.
