Hi guys!

I am wondering whats the best way to do 0-100 without ESP. Ive been trying to do it revving up to 4000-4500 RPM and then flooring it, but i get a lot of wheel spin and loose time. Tried starting on lower RPM but i think its slower that way. Could be related to the relatively small tires(running on 15inch rims atm), but im planning to buy new 17inch rims in a month or two. Would then the wheel spin disappear? Also whats the best 0-100 time? Ive seen 11 seconds on youtube, but then again i didnt hear any wheel spin on that video.

Im also wondering would i be able to beat Brava 1.6 16V on 1/4 mile drag?

ok, well i know i cant compare to my 1.3 75 hp diesel :p

but if want to get away quickly (without spinning wheels or destroying the gearbox) i rev to about 2,500 rpm (i know, but its diesel) then let the clutch up till it 'bites' ( i hate the phrase) then once it has bitten flaw the gas and then dump the clutch right after....

point being, i dont just dump the clutch with high rpm's, let te wheels get some motion....

you can experiment with different ammounts of dumping of the clutch, i.e. maybe just let it up a little slower till you have proper traction

Who said i was worried and want to do a fast 0-100? As a guy who love's to drive, i just want to know the best way to achieve optimal performance with different cars and engines.

We talk about kmh, sorry i didn't clarify. :)

I will experiment a bit soon. The roads must dry out a bit, its been raining lately.

a little bit of wheel spin is fine as it helps keeps the revs high for the next gear change, Id say you would have a chance beating the 1.6 16v Brava

pulling off quickly without wheelspin is something that takes practice to get spot on.... the best way I find to get off the line quickest in my t-jet is by holding the revs anywhere between 2,500rpm and 3,500rpm so the turbos spooled then, the best way to explain it is to use the clutch how you would normally but quicker without being too violent with it which will result in wheelspin.

agreed, you justneeed to do some experimenting with your car, see how much power you can apply etc before the wheels lose traction and spin....find a nice empty stretch of road (country roads are good) - or even an empty car park or cattle market) and try different revs out etc :)

So a person comes on here and asks how to do 0-60mph in the quickest time possible, and then someone else says they arent going to do it all the time? yeah right!

(10.6 secs with GSR induction off the top of my head)

I see you have the 1.4 16v. How exactly are you doing the start? Do you have ESP and is there any difference with or without it?

Could you maybe make a quick test for me? Just try a 0-100 with ESP Off and On. If its not a problem. Id like to know what the difference would be. :)

It is a problem for two reasons, first off my drivers tire is looking bald, so until I get that tire replaced then theres no point coz theres no grip on tire(obviously).:(

And secondly, I'm not gonna rag my motor and risk doing damage to my own car, I'm 32, not 17! I do have an induction kit but thats so I have a little more help in overtaking, No more, no less!;)

in other words go invest in a GSR induction kit or equivelent and find out yourself!:p

i had a quick go there other day out of curiosity and got around 11 seconds and its standard with the traction off, also a while back i got a higher top speed with the traction off than wen it was on!!! think when turned on if it detects spin obvioulsy it can brake but it can close the throttle.

if its sunny and warm a bald tyre will give you an advantage, more grip

slicks dont have any tread in them
