I have this problem, but dont want to pay Fiat £60 for them to fix it, has anyone done this themselves?

Have to laugh! Rarely reported my arse! Ive had mine fixed 4 times. Not to sure how to tackle it yourself. How old is your car?

Well as the quote from T says - its a dealer job. Unless you want to risk the airbag going off in your face...

Its an 06 plate.

I appreciate the risk of the airbag going off in my face, but if some crap dealer mechanic can do it, then why cant I? (not wanting to sound like a tool, but I swing spanners as a job, just not on road cars...)

Will disconnecting the battery disable the airbag?

well if you having to ask questions like that...... i'd leave well alone..

there are a few posts on here about removing air bag which should be done with special fiat tools (do a search)

But for £60 i'd rather pay the dealer at least if it goes wrong when they are doing they work they have to sort it

£60! i do it for free during a service etc

nothing except Fiat only allow level 3 DET's to work on airbag systems....so not exactly 'some crap dealer mechanic'.
