Hi, I could use some advice here.

My car is out of warranty now by about 6 months, and so the problems really begin.

Im sure a lot of you GP M-JET owners will be familiar with the engine management light by now, as looking over this forum it seems quite common. My car would throw up up now and again for no apparent reason, even go into limp mode now and again. The first time it did this it went to the dealer under warranty and they fixed something or other.

However, its back now in a big way.

For the last few weeks its been lacking power at low revs, my local garage put this down to the EGR valve, but said he didnt want to do the work unless he was sure, and his diagnostic machine could not find the fault. He suggested taking it to the dealer...£££ So thats going to be a £70 quid charge just to plug it in a presume? I was considering doing this, and asking for a full fault report, and then getting my local place to do the work, to save some cash.

Anyway, the real problem started tonight. I take my key out of the ignition and the car keeps running. This bought back the management light (which had stopped showing up for a good while before now), and also, for a little while, the battery and oil lights! I can only get the car to cut out by stalling it, or pressing the clutch and slipping it into reverse. Ive not gone through any water recently either, which seemed to be a common 'cause' in most of the threads ive already seen.

What would you guys do from here? Take it to the dealer for a fault report and get the local garage to fix it? I could just do without a horror bill at the moment you see.

Sorry for the long one.. Cheers!

I've had both these but not at the same time!

EGR is very likely, plenty Threads on that issue, clean or replace.

I'd suggest buying a Gendan EOBD code reader for around 30 quid to see what that shows up.

Did you wash your car recently, maybe with a jetwash under the wheel-arches? Suspect water in the fusebox under the bonnet passenger side.

agree with foxy mate, i too had both probs, egr valve for power issue and water in fuse box for not turning off after key. plenty of threads on here for both things. hope this helps.
