this morning i was turning around and.......BANG a massive noise from the front drivers wheel well..........
yes you guessed it another fractured/snapped/sheared,call it what you will ,a front spring coil.
i took it to fiat dealer in bolton lanc.... who took all my details (through smirks i might add)
only to tell me
"sorry its not covered under warranty as the vehicle is a week out of warrany"

(red faced and bubbling) i asked for a price to do the work
1 spring fitted £160.54..nice.(not)
i walked out and spoke to fiat customer service they took my details ,proper details like history and mileage...they say they will let me know by tuesday as if i can get a free of charge repair....
it seems as the car has full service history and 31k they say i have a good case.
sorry to bore you all.

My car has had both of the front springs replaced luckly i didn't pay for it because the bloke who had it before me had that pleasure. he told me that first the drivers side snapped and then the passenger about 2 weeks later.

Aparantly this is a commom problem with fiat springs because they make them out of a certain % recycled metal and that puts flaws and weaknes points in the spring. My springs where replaced with after market same spec springs to nip the problem in the bud perminantly other wise they could go again.

this is my thinking at the moment,
i will ask fiat to change all the springs as a gesture of good will abd see what happens,if not i will buy some Eibach pros and as you say "nip the problem in the bud"

Ask for a sympathetic warranty claim...........I did this some years ago when a steering lock seized on a Fiorino Van about 13 months after registration.

They were good enough to say 'Yes'.

Its worth a try IMHO.

Apparantly this is a commom problem with most manufacturers these days because manufacturers are making cars lighter to save weight for fuel consumption reasons, plus our roads are appalling, and we have numerous speed control (humps) in place. My springs where replaced with after market same spec springs to nip the problem in the bud perminantly other wise they could go again.

Edited for accuracy... unless you can prove the original Fiat statement that is...?

Apparently you like inventing stuff as it is a problem with the majority of manufacturers now.
