I am attending the Fast Show 2010 this weekend at Santapod, but this year i am taking my car and wanting to take it down the drag strip.

However i am hearing horror stories all the time about snapping drive shafts etc etc and other damaged due to the extra grip you get on the strip compared to roads etc..........

I have a mapped GPS 1.9mjet with 185bhp and 250lb ft @ wheels

Am i right to worry or should it be fine, any one else putting theres on strip?

Thanks

Im taking mine down the strip. its only going to be 1 & 2nd gear that any drive train stress will occur compared to driving a normal road. im not going to rev the balls then dump the clutch, but its my 1st time on a strip so i ent got a clue!

will be interested to see the times, get a mate to video the runs if you can (y)

Think my times were a flat 14 but cant remember now, been a year lol. I managed to beat a drag car, it jumped the start so i won lol, and a Subaru had a really **** start and only started catching up at the end.

tips
Don't race your opponent, just try beat your time. others wise it puts you off.
go easy on your first go, as you said don't just drop the clutch with full beans.

14's a good time. i will be happy with anything in the 15/16's! will be good if some of us get put together! would be better if a mapped t-jet is against a mjet!

Are we talking quarter miles here?

I've been to a couple of race days and a flat 14 seconds is seriously quick, I would bet against any Mjet getting that. Cars going that quick are close on or sub 6 second 0-60 and no way is a remapped Mjet that quick, Red Dot tuned or not.

Where's the moan, just questioning that an Mjet would do a 1/4 in 14 seconds? Same as I question the Mjetters that say their remapped cars will do 0-60 in 6 seconds. Prove it and I'll shut up.

BTW, I am quite aware of how quick an Mjet is, mine's running 180bhp.
