Going to change the brake pads on the GP. i can get off shop4parts for around £33 for a front set. Is this a good price for the set? Or can you get them cheaper anywhere else? Or any other recommended pads to change to?

Ta Matt

Thanks for the reply, erm theres no General Traffic or Andrew Page near by, not to my knowledge anyway.

I have looked at the Greenstuff brakes, they seem very good just dont know if it will be worth the extra money. What you think?

May just stick with the genuine Fiat ones from shop4parts

I think I am going for the standard ones, anymore replies will be helpful, then ill decide later, thanks guys.

Tell us a bit more about your motor.

Is it standard? what engine?

With any performance mods you've made or intend to make then you might like to afford yourself some more stopping power.

Also the Greenstuff pads are renowned for being quiet even under the harshest of breaking and have a good chance of lasting longer than standard if your not heavy on them.

My GP is a standard 1.4 8v, but looking to do the general upgrades to performance in the near future, e.g exhaust, GSR etc.

How much are Greenstuff for a full front set? The best price you have seen?

Thanks

All brake pads sold in this country must by law conform to a standard, ECE-R90. This standard and piece of legislation ensures that any replacements are of an equal standard to those fitted by the OEM.

Buy the cheapest ones you can find........ they WILL NOT perform any worse than the ones originally fitted by Fiat when the car was new. I picked up a set for about £15 inc vat from my local autofactors. It doesnt matter what it says on the box, they will all perform to an equal standard........unless you want to pay extra for all the advertising hype and the manufacturers sales propaganda that goes with them.........or a box that says "FIAT" on it (y)

Thinking about changing my brake pads too. I've had the car 2 and 1/2 years nows. Never had them changed and I think that I'm starting to hear a noise when I take my foot off the brake. Like a squeak noise. Anyone else have this or is it just my imagination lol

Silly question, but is it easy to change them?

With my car having ESP would it need a garage?

The ESP is the same system as ABS. Therefore you don't need to even go anywhere near the wheel speed sensor. The only sensor you need to touch is the brake pad wear sensor, which is one clip on only one of the pads. Other than that its the same as doing any normal pad and disc change :)

EBC Direct, £17.52 with free delivery for the MJET, discs are a decent price too, if your spending quite a bit use the promo code - SCOOBY58, it gives you 15% discount, spotted it on the Subaru Forum!

Hope this helps!
