Is it easy to replace the driver's side doorlock on the GP?

A mate's one is gone (very common I know) and I got a spare from eBay, just need to swap them out.

Anyone done this, I did a search and can't find a guide..

Any ideas, hints, pictures?

why dont you take what panels and pieces you have to get to the door lock nicely and just see what your up against might be a simple fix or it might put you off that case it wouldnt take a garage an hours labour?

i know a few people have fiddled withthe mechanism but i dont know if theyre outright replaced it

Because it's on my mate's car..

Thanks for the info.

I just thought a few people might have replaced it.

Well I got a replacement lock unit for £20... Just need to know how to fix it.

Will have a look next weekend.

T where are you...?

What tool do I need to take out the lock unit, it looks like alen key rivets?! :bang:

Theres not much info around on this i have atached a diagram which might be of help.
Looks like they show it with the door skin off - so it will most likely very awkward to fit. Having said that mine was changed by my dealer in about 15 mins.

ive done this about 4 times as i fix alot of damaged cars...its very easy jus undo some wires/clips and straight swap.(y)(y)

remove the door pannel, reach in, undo the clip that runs to the handle in the door pannel, then they are 2 more clips that holds metal rods to the lock barrel and outside door handle then from the side of the door(facing the lock) just undo the 3 hex screws. pull out and replace...

sounds tricky but fairly easy...hope that helps

PM me if you have too!

2 or 5 crosshead screws along bottom of door panel(depends if 3/5 door)

remove plastic cover above inside handle nand remove 5mm allen nkey

under inner grab handle is 2 x 5mm allen keys

pull off door panel from bottom corner (trim tool is handy for the clips if you have one) and unclip inner cable.

peel back from top the membrane behind door panel

unclip the 2 metal rods going to the lock, you need to do this from inside the door so a torch is useful.

undo 3 x torx 40 bolts at end of door holding lock on then finally unclip wiring connector

refit in reverse.

Easiest door lock you'll probably ever do(y)

I love you guys :slayer:

Thanks for the info, i'll attempt this Saturday hopefully it'll be nice weather.

I had a quick go but struggled, now with all this info I should be fine. (y)

Fitted it this morning, was actaully very easy with the helpful instructions!

Only bit I struggled with was the inner unlock handle's cable clip, was a bit small and flimsy and thought i'd snap it getting the old cable out.

All done though and works a treat!

MASSIVE THANKS ALL! :slayer:
