My front offside wheel bearing is needing replaced (whining) anyone done this and can advice me? (y)

can anyone tell me if it is a wheel bearing / hub assembly (whole unit)

or just a wheel bearing on its own?

Rather you than me doing a bearing at home. They don't always come off very easily!
 
Seriously though. The labour rate shouldn't be too high - you just need to have the right piece of kit, should the bearing not want to come off. You can try if you like, and it may go smoothly, but I have seen a Corsa bearing not come off with even a couple of tonnes of pressure applied to it.

I would imagine that the part wouldn't be too expensive, but you'd have to buy things like grease, etc, to go with it.
 
Or you could strip the hub down urself then take the hub too a local garage see if they will press it out and press the new 1 back in, wudnt take 5 mins and might only charge you a tenner or summit, we get a few d.i.y'rs comin into my work with stripped down parts lol
