Hi all

I am having an issue with my 1.9 mjet.

The car seems to have develop a major loss of power. Its really hard to get above 2500-3000 rpm then once I do the car picks up speed really quickly. Anyone have any ideas what could cause this?

Yeah I do and a quick search would reveal its an EGR issue no doubt, from your description its likely that its stuck open. However some also can stick closed or part way.

Theres two options for you really, a> Get a new one. b>Clean it.

If your still within warranty (If thats your motor in sig then you are) then give your dealer a quick call and book in, I've not heard so far of this not being covered.

If your out of warranty then its a 45min-1h30 job to dismantle and clean.

if it's stuck open there is no loss in power, as i experienced a few months ago, if however, it's stuck closed then you will loose power and experience start up issues.

Which is why the garage thought it wasn't the EGR valve, as they have never seen one fail open before.

won't be long before he gets the check engine warning light if it's the EGR valve (y)
