I had to take the car to Fiat today for the steering column safety recall, and i just happened to spot an odd looking Grande in the corner of the car park.

It turns out out it was an Evo.

I started taking some pictures of it and the service manager came out, thinking he was going to stop me taking photos, it's supposed to be a big seceret, he actually started chatting to me, so i asked him if i could take a look inside, sure enough he opens the car for me to take more photos :D.

He was actually a very helpful chap indeed (y) Fiat and frendly chaps in the same sentence, could this be a thing of the future lol :D

He showed me a five door model, which was around the back, and was actually telling me they had an Evo in the showroom, but they were told to get it out of the show room and hide it lol.

I think there is actually a lot to like about it, despite having a slightly ugly front end, as you will see from the photos.

The two door model had the 1.4 16V multi air engine.

I had problems uploading the last three photos to my gallery.

One of the best things, apart from the multi air engine, is the new location of the usb port, which has been relocated to the area where the drinks holder is (y)

Theres been one in the showroom of Glyn Hopkins in Ipswich for about 3 weeks. looks quite nice, love the new dash!! also think they should have kept the usb port in the glovebox but owell lol.

I've been looking at Evo's this week, fully plan to buy.

There not really much of a secret, theres just hardly anything out there right now, the GP's are difficult to find, most showrooms have the 5door Dynamic on display.

Also very difficult to find any indepth info & most sales people are clueless, but luckily today i finally picked up an official brochure (which has quite a few different things than what the internet has said package/extra wise.)

Must admit, i was alittle iffy over its looks... esspecially in some of the show rooms, my GOD they are some of the colours the worst imaginable. (Tango red, Yuk!(

Pictures really dont do the car justice imo, i actually found pictures of a Blue Evo this afternoon, looked ok nothing great, just got back from a showroom which suprisingly, had a Blue Evo & it looked brillant, much like maserati blue for the bravo.

Anyway, Blue will most likely be the colour i buy because it looks great with the black bumper etc, i still want to see Black / White before i buy, theres also a dark green ill be seeing next week which might look good but i dislike green so :p.... Worst colour by far so far has been "Tango Red" which looks like a dark red colour, fuuugly.

P.s i agree, USB kept in glove box would of been better, hell if they were that worried they could of put it in both places, not as if USB's cost squat, be much nicer to plug in an ipod / mp3player & dump it in the glove box rather than have it floating around the car.

If they are "hardly a secret" then why are they not on the Fiat web site to configure?

Because Fiat are bloody slacking. *Venom*
I've been waiting for them to update website for ages, but gave up this week & decided to go in search of a brochure, which i finally!! got today which has everything in it. (there not available on website either.

Also if you want to configure one:
http://www.puntoevo.it/it/Configuratore_Punto_EVO

Its in italian, but you can click about & pick up on a few things.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that the wheels on that car that payney1 has taken photos of look cheap, nasty and too small for the car?

Interesting you should said that, i was thinking the same when i saw the car in showroom earlier... wasnt sure if thats because i was used to seeing 16-17" rims, or if the car sits even higher than the grande or something.

Does look out of place on that one (most certainly a Dynamic, the base model.)

Edit: actually now i've looked at the pictures properly, thats a GP.. should have 16" Alloys, ill have to watch that, maybe ask for the 17" (Multispoke ofc, those bulky ones are ugly).

Just got home off nights and low and behold the Punto Evo is now on the Fiat website to configure.......how spooky:D

iv just configured an evo, and discovered that the biggest engine is the 1.4petrol. they have dropped the 1.6 and 1.9 diesel engines and the 1.3 is the only diesel. that means the new generation evo drivers wont have anything on us smaller engined grande owners when they try and leave us at the lights lol :D

pps the only engine u can get new on gp is now 1.4 sound. whatever sound means lol. why have they dropped the other engine on both cars?
