General Up close to an EVO

General Up close to an EVO

That's the same torque as my '03 Doblo 1.9 turbo with 100hp, and I get about 45mpg.

So, as many testers suggest, the 95 Diesel is the pick of the bunch with it's astonishing mpg and performance combination: the torque will give it excellent real world overtaking acceleration by the way.

The slightly raised ride height might be answered by the greatly improved, both in quietness and comfort, ride of the car over the 'old' GP.

Tis true, the 95 Diesel seems to be the one people are after tbh, unfortunately it costs about £1000 more... and im REALLY straining my budget to the point i have to think twice for the GP 105 Petrol at the moment.

Full page advert for one of the Evo models in the Daily Mail today, saw it when I was in the khazi.
I cant remember the exact price, something like £9k OTR including scrappage comes with B&M stopstart and 3 years/27k free servicing.

No mention of the word Grande anywhere and the fact it was in the Daily Mail suggests to me they might be trying to pitch it at the more mature end of the market.

Must be one of the worst kept secrets tbh as we've all seen the pictures on the net, but for some reason Fiat want to try and keep it secret.

I was in Forward Autos before Christmas looking at a manual left on one of the sales reps desk, as soon as he seen me looking at it it was whipped off me quicker than you can say jack frost :D and put away in the draw lol

lol thats a secret :D lmao... i seen the evo when forwards got theirs in early december :)

Can't see myself in Punto Evo then as they are only doing a 1.3 Mjet.

Need something with more power.

they are doing a 1.6 derv 120 bhp :D

^^^ Yeah that, the 170hp Multiair thats going into Mito and the 1.6 120hp derv unit will be making an appearance, but not until next year. The 170 will be the Abarth Evo when it arrives.

All dealers were automatically allocated a 1.4 Multiair GP 3door and a 1.4 8v Dynamic with a style pack, so everyone's got the same.

Personally, I'm hankering after a Easy Listening White Sporting, with the smoked alloys. Its like a pale battleship grey metallic, which sounds horrid but looks amazing in the metal. I ordered mine the other day, perk of the job ;) run that for a few months then go for something else!

As for a secret, I've been calling my previous customers to tell them that I've got one in the showroom and to come and have a look! No secrets at all!

Nice, i've been wanting a GP but after extras (climate control / Style pack / ESP (Doesnt come as standard, WTF!?) / parking sensors.... touching the 16 grand mark on Fiat website, about 13-14 after scrappage etc.

So took a look at the Eleganza, comes with all of the above and the same engine, just wondering what id be missing out on if i went eleganza instead of GP.

And im also wondering if the uprated hi-fi was possible to come seperatly, i cant say pull-me-over blacked out windows & side skirts are something i want to spend £500 on :p

Dont suppose you have any info on that? :) would be very helpful!

The only thing you'd be getting different is amber as opposed to white ambient dash lighting, and different wheels. Eleganza looks a very good spec.

You can't get the stereo seperate unfortunately, but the standard one isn't bad at all.

Thanks for the reply!

Shame about the stereo but damn, going Eleganza could save me £1000 in extras.

ive not test driven either yet, but performance wise fiat website seems to think there exactly the same, difficult to trust that since the GP is ment to be "sporty"

but as theres no eleganza's in dealers right now i guess you cant confirm that at the moment?

Its looking more & more like the Eleganza rather than GP right now, almost definately if the performance matches up... im after something with abit of guts to it, as long as the 105 Eleganza isnt luxurious in taking its time with the accelerator i see no reason to go GP

The GP is only sporty style. There are two lines to the range, comfort (active, dynamic and eleganza) and sporting (gp and sporting). The GP has exactly the same suspension, tyres, brakes and engine as the eleganza. Each dealer should have a GP in the engine you want, go and have a drive of that. Where about are you mate, your welcome to have a play in mine if your close enough.

Good to know, apart from added weight i guess its pretty much the same!

I'm in Bristol, where abouts are you?
I've not found any bristol dealers on here yet :p they're probably hiding until after ive bought it

Thanks for the info on dualogic blank.

Elation, I know its OT, but any news of Multijet2 or MA in the Qubo (that board's a bit quiet!)?

Thanks

Cal

Could they have come up with there own idea!

The steering wheel controls look like there off Vauxhall and the stereo system looks like its from a bigger car, it just dwarfs it.

Personally with the new front grill it looks like its trying to be a Peaugot 206.

I don't like it and I hope it doesn't catch on. :p

From my point of view its missing 1 big thing, some serious grunt!
Ok a 170bhp Abarth might be arriving later in the year, but how much is it going to cost 20K or more??

the interior is brilliant :p

Unfortunately the front end unfortunately is modelled on its "super-succesful" fiat 500.... which to me just looks like a chrome covered downs syndrome Mini.

I HAAAAAATTTTTEEEEE the 500, but other people seem to love it so Fiat seems to be putting elements of that look into everything.

Out of all the fiat range the car i fell inlove with was the Bravo, but its too expensives to buy/run so i couldnt, but im sure ill shed some tears when that facelift comes in 2011 :(

Edit: whoops, double post  ment to copy/paste into an edit on the previous :p

This may have been posted before (haven't got time to read every post!) but the EVO is now on Fiats website available to configure! A tad pricey though, think i'll stick with the Abarth 500! Apparently the New Abarth Punto will look very different to this, and lest hope so, i think the one featured in the pics looks a bit French to me? :)
