Hi all,

I was trying to drive home after Christmas yesterday when my front wipers decided to stop working so I have had to turn around and come back. I called Fiat yesterday and they said that a mechanic will not be able to take a look until Monday but I could really do with getting home today so I can make it to work tomorrow.

When I spoke to Fiat on the phone they said that I should check the fuse so I am trying to do that.

I have removed the metal plate in the glovebox that holds the USB socket on and uncovered what I believe to be the correct set of fuses but I have no idea which one is which.

When I try and use the wipers I hear a clicking noise coming from my glovebox.

Rear wiper works fine.

If anyone is able to help me today I'd really appreciate it. I'm hoping all I need to do is go the halfords and get a new fuse and then I can worry more about the cause when I get back home.

do a search on the forum there have been one or two people suffering from wiper motor failure

the fuse positions are all in the handbook assuming you have it with you if not

locate teh GP owners manual on this site

http://aftersales.fiat.com/elum/SelectModel.aspx?markID=1&languageID=1

then again after looking at it it looks like fiat have altered the shape and layout fuse box in the engine bay....

oh and the other fuse box is in your glove box behind a plastic flap not near your right knee as indicated in the very literal left hand drive converted roughly to English

I don't even think you need the manual, as the fuse positions (which one is which) are embossed in the inner side of fuse box's lid... or is not given there?

I've accidentally left my manual at the other end of the country from when I was cleaning my car.

Well I've tried looking at the fuses in my glove box and they are all fine. Is it worth looking at the fuses under the bonnet as well or at this point is it most likely that my motor has just seized up?

When I try and put the wipers on there is definitely a single clicking noise like an electrical relay. I don't know how the wipers are wired up but that's what it sounds like.

I'm debating if I should try and get someone to look at it today or if it's just going to have to go into fiat tomorrow.

Well I'm glad it's not just me that couldn't find it. Surely there must be a fuse for them somewhere?

If it is the motor that's gone is it likely to be something that'll be fixed under warranty? I have a couple of other issues like leaky tailgate and light in the heater/AC area of my dash that keeps turning off.

Oooh, well that sounds promising.

To get someone to take a look quickly would it be best to turn up with my car first thing in the morning or is it better to call first? I am aware that given the time of your there is likely a large number of people needing to get things sorted after the festive period so I'm unsure what to do for the best.

Well the car is in and they've found what they need to replace but it turns out that when I bought the car last year the dealer didn't transfer the warranty over to me and so it isn't in my name and so they can't do any work on my car yet.

:(

So after reading the thing about biscuits that made me laugh a lot i decided to register to ask a question.

Sorry to bring this up 3 years later but my 59 plate punto evo has just suffered the same problem, they were working fine then i noticed they stopped then about 10 minutes later they did about 3 wipes and now have completely gone. cars going in tomorrow to be looked at but i was wondering how long it took them to fix for you and what exactly was wrong?

Im hoping that im in, they fix it and i drive off never having a problem again *fingers crossed*

Car is still under warranty with them too
