Is it possible to install a turbo into a non turbo 1.4 16v?
There seems to be a big gap for one but has anyone on here ever done it?

Dont even consider it, for the huge expense, broken gearboxes and general messing about it really cant be done, you would certainly spend more than trading for a T-Jet and probably end up with a dog in the end, if it could be made to run at all.

I think some people nievely assume they just "bolt on" .......much like a number plate or a spare wheel does. And that the associated parts and components such as the exhaust arrangement, the inlet arrangement, the intercooler, various pipework and plumbing, oil feeds, uprated engine and g/box internals, mapping, FI system, the ECU and various sensors and instrumentation etc etc can all cope or that they "change" at the same time the turbo is fitted due to some kind of black magic or ju-ju :D:D

Can be done relatively easy on this engine. I know of a Panda 1000HP owner that has done it sucessfully but he did just about all of the work himself. I know of someone else doing it to a mk2b sporting aswell. But as said its pointless when there is already a version of the car with a turbo'd engine. Will be cheaper for you to upgrade to a jet than to retro fit to your car. Alot easier to get insured aswell.
