My 06 Sporting JTD makes a very loud metal noise every time I go over bumps, when I change gear and accelerate and when I go over road undulations. I had the same problem in Feb 08, it was traced down to worn drop links which were replaced and the car was fine.

I bought the car brand new in June 06. Drop links were replaced in Feb 08 at 28k miles. The car turned 3 years old in June 09, the car has 56k miles on the clock. Are the drop links still under warranty?

£9 ish from shop4parts

if you have the basic mechanical skills takes you about 15-30 mins a side the OEM fiat M10 nuts have a 16mm AF head size (odd ball) but you can get a 16mm socket no problem

soak the threads for a couple of days (can be done with the wheels on full lock) with decent penetrating oil I had access to an air ratchet which saved a bit of time) as the bottom one is a bit awkward to get at

its advisable to replace the nuts (i used nylocs)

only 2 nuts per side and a immsmc a 17mm open ended spanner to hold the pin to stop it turning
