I have a '08' Grande Punto, since I bought this car in the winter months I get a bad build up of condensation inside the car on the front windscreen.
It is so bad that when I put the air on inside the car it creates lines of water that runs down the windscreen...obv a driving hazard and when it drys my screens ends up all blured.
Also now it is icy I am getting a thin layer of ice on the inside covering the whole window.

I have check windows and doors are shut! There are no damp umbrellas in my car which was Fiats last answer....so any ideas? Is this a faulty seal perhaps, my car is still under warranty and with the cold winter coming in quick I want to get this sorted.

Help!

Assuming there are as you say, no wet items in the car, try feeling around the carpets front & back, looking for a water leak from somewhere, check particularly under the dashboard either side of the centre console, looking here for a leak from the heater matrix. Then check the expansion tank for the cooling system under the bonnet, has the level dropped below Min / Max?

If you find nothing thats a puzzle fo sho!

Maybe daft but have you checked you have fresh air coming through your vents and that you are not on recycled air? Recycled with moisture from people's breath in this weather can soon build up to a very damp atmosphere

I had a similar problem (though not to your extent) with my old citroen and my GPS when I bought it, I just left the A/C running for a few days whenever I was in the car, cleared the problem right up :)

if you douse the windscreen does water come in? if it is you may need to reattach the windscreen with new windscreen glue. only professional doing.

Thanks all for your help.

I dont have air con, air is from outside not re-circualted and will check tonight the carpets and cooling system!

Fiat are going to look at it Tues for me....but my dealership is crap so who knows!

Did you ever get to the bottom of this?

Excess water in the car
Either from wet clothing as and bits placed inside
Or possibly a leak from heater or window/door seals

If everything seem dry inside the car e.g carpet and seats I'd look into getting one of those mini car dehumidifier and place it your your dash overnight to reduce moisture levels a little then take in the house to dry out once a week

Also use Aircon as often as you can if your car has it
