Tuning Aftermarket Recirc. Dump Valve

Tuning Aftermarket Recirc. Dump Valve

Because you are doing it after the valve so as far as the car is concerned it still working as it should. After the valve it makes no difference to the car if it gets dumped into the atmosphere or induction.

If you are going to fit an aftermarket one then you do it after the standard one hence why it is pointless ;)

Reason there maybe problems is because the standard recirc is connected to the ecu, so disconnect this and the car thinks its broken.

I see, I haven't had a proper look at the stock DV yet. Thanks for the tech info..

An unrelated question.. Going from what you said.. it would be possible to add a small air chamber on top of the existing DV and [THEORETICALLY] add a loud trumpet BOV if one so desired..? Interesting.. of course I have no need for such antics but it does give me an idea..

I already have to change the stock DV as I am getting compressor surge because the valve is either faulty or broken, chances are I have to pay a generous sum for the Fiat valve so I may as well get one that sounds better.

Yes it's under warentee but I'm just interested in the aftmkt DV.

If it's under warranty- you pay nothing.

Have a look at the standard recirc valve. It's not like a conventional valve where it runs off a separate pipe from the charge pipe- it's bolted directly to the pipe so an aftermarket valve would involve a bit of fabrication to fit, for very little gain.

Also, bear in mind that if you decide to disconnect the recirc pipework you need to blank-off the return to the turbo intake- otherwise you're drawing in dirty air. ;)

Forge DV004,SpitR and Bailey DV26D are ok.

Just don't disconnect the stock recirc valve.

I just had another look, I'm stuck where the (I assume) air sensor unit is connected to the stock DV, I can't see a way to bypass the stock valve at all unless you bypass the sensor (which I didn't think was possible until I saw a pic in the forum.. I sent a PM to Dangerous Dave in case he doesn't read this.

What I was going to do was fit it at the end of the long boost hose after the stock BOV.. which would be an experiment purely for the sound, of course if there was a way to get the boost to go straight to the HKS that would be better.

..and Reaper, with these BOV's if you don't remove the stock DV where do you fit it? Do you need a vacuum hose for them too?

SpitR can work as recirc or atm.

The others are only atmo.

You remove the black flexible hose that goes from the black intake pipe to the recirc valve and you connect there your new bov.

Yes you need vacuum hose ofcourse. It's easy to find. It's a thin hose left of the bov on the manifold. It's a bit hidden under the engine cover.

I can upload some fotos if you don't understand where exacthly the hoses are.

I just took a look it seems pretty straight forward, I never fitted a BOV before so forgive my ignorance :worship:
I haven't got access to a BOV yet but when I get a hold of one I'll ask you if I get stuck thanks for the offer (y)

I'm looking on the bay for a cheap one and I've come across this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-HKS-SSQV-Universal-BOV-Blow-off-Silver-Ed-Boxed_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem25578c05a5QQitemZ160382584229QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
He seems to be selling some REALLY cheap HKS SSQVs, the bloke's from Latvia but I had a look at feedback and there's quite a few happy customers.. what do you guys think? Should I sell out the extra couple hundred :yuck:?

I had a look at previous sales of the item and they seem to go from £90 - £120..
I know SSQV wasn't on your list Reaper

Be careful with the cheap SSQVs.There are many fakes around...

Also as I have told you some time ago SSQV is bolt on and would need an adaptor in order to fit it.

Yes I think I could fine an adapter or make one this one looks easy enough, is this how you said I should set it up? The pic is about halfway down the page..

Ok cool and this SSQV doesn't affect the engine management light if the Stock DV is left alone? :slayer:

I don't know anyone using it on a tjet so I can't tell you.

But from the link at your previous post it seems like it works...
