i have read a few diffrent tales over remaps, rang some local garages near me, both say diffrent tales and laugh when i say i have read you can get up to 194 bhp ! one guy said impossible to get passed 160 another says you gain up to a third more. So the large bhp figures i see on here is that down extras fitted or just how its come out mines a 06 1.9 m-jet all std. Does any one no of a good honest garage around the burnley lancs area ? just got to try minisport in padiham if i can get hold, Us yorkshire men get confused if its not a tractor or a landi !!!!! cheers peeps:D

just go to red dot mate, its a full day out and a trip to London but its well worth it, Im not that far from you and I did it

most M-Jets get between 175 - 185 with the odd few getting upto 190+

they will map it for as much power as you want, staying safe will leave you at 180 ish with a massive torque increase,

its around 200 miles each way but honestly its worth it, they are great

by far the best mod Ive done to a car

Only really lost the days driving, AFAIK Red Dot are kind enough to put the same map back if your unfortunate enough to have it removed.

If you trust your dealer and then just mention it to them that you've had it done.

last thing i would ever do is tell a main dealer that, warranty would be flushed straight down the crapper, at least with a tuning box they cant tell if its been on, (not that we would do anything to ruin the warranty cas we wouldnt ever , honestly mr fiat)
i am waiting 3 full years before i change anything on my motor...........;)

I also waited 3 years before changing anything so that the warranty had run out. It was them who suggested the tuning box that i bought because they have other customers with the same piece of kit who highly reccomend it. We FIAT owners are an honest bunch....right?

Simple, Please dont apply any updates its been remapped. Out of warranty anyway.

You will find some dealers appreciate a remap and understand what it will and wont affect and will work with you to solve any warranty problems regardless.

But as Flint says, some will laugh you outta the door. A quiet word with a DET or Service Manager over the phone may help work out which way yours is inclined?

exactly, so im not tinting all my windows or fitting eibachs, im NOT waiting for the postman to deliver a tuning chip, im not having leather door cards, im not changing the alloys n tyres and im certainly not spending a fortune on ice either.
honestly.

HERE HERE well said. My philosophy exactly. If **** can happen it'll happen in my house!!

While on the subject of remap how does the bhp and tourque relationship work? Mine got 184bhp and 314 tourque, beenies got less bhp and more tourque, and I've noticed others with more bhp and 280 tourque!

So has anybody got a tuning box...? That's what I'm leaning to more and more, but there is a lot of different ones out there and I don't know what one to choose.

I have a racechip pro and so far i'm very satisfied. My figures are 157hp and 319 torque. And it can give more but for safety reasons i keep it there.I wanted a remap at first but i guess a box is better ( for me) because i can take it out whenever i want.
Cheers.

Ive got no faith in "tuning boxes" if you mean the things that you plug in the end of the fuel rail to tell the engine its running colder than it really is, all they do is make them over fuel

a remap is tailored to your car, the boost is adjusted as well as the air and fuel delivery

my car is out of warrenty though and I appriciate other peoples circumstances

Ive got a SPIDER from dieseltuning.co.uk. V. pleased with improved economy and performance. Had it for about 6 months and no probs.so far. I wanted a Red Dot remap but was warned by my dealer that it could be wiped when being serviced. It was them who advised me to get a SPIDER
