I have recently bought a Fiat Punto Grande 1.2 Active (56 reg). I really like the car but the ignition failure light keeps flashing the odd time but only when I’m going 70mph and over. It lasts for a maximum of 10 seconds and always happens when the car is going down a slight decline.
Its been in the fiat garage several times and they can’t figure it out. They’ve tried all sorts with the plugs etc.
A family member has also recently bought a small fiat punto (from a different dealer) and they are having the exact same problem with the flashing light.
It’s not causing a problem but it is very irritating and I am concerned for when I will want to sell it.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how it can be fixed?
Cheers

sounds from that that its "missing under load" now it could be loads of thing's

main culprits to check first..

Plugs

Coil Pack

HT leads...

problem is you need someone who has got a Code reader to sit with you when you get the fault to help you track it down...

Problem is the Fiat techs value their licence so will not test beyond the speed limit for obvious reasons............

Cheers for your time

Strange, they're classic symptoms for when the cambelt has been replaced but the self-adaptive parameters haven't been reset.

Have the garages tried performing a phonic wheel learn?
