so ive been goin through all the other threads and i cant seem to find my specific problem, i have a 2006 1.2 petrol Gp and last week while driving i started hearing a whizing sound when the clutch was depressed, also the gears became increasingly difficult to put in, as soon as i stopped to see what the problem was i started to smell buring inside the car, and i noticed it was leaking oil from inbetween the engine and gearbox. When i took it to the mechanic he was thinkin it could be the thurst bearing or the pressure plate, but couldnt explain the leak. Id like to know what it could possibly be, and how it happened considering im very careful with the car and that i dont over rev it, slam the gears or over use the clutch. Thanks

hi, bud. the oil leak will be the crank seal, . as to the whineing, does sound like the thrust bearing. sounds like you have a worn clutch, which inturn causes alot of debry in the bell housing, and this is what probabley knackered the crank seal bud
eathier way the box will have to come out to see what actually is going on.

thanks, just talked to the mechanic today, so it turns out a bearing came apart in the gearbox and broke everything inside :( apparently this is a common problem on Gp with oversized wheels but mine are the standard 15 inch wheels (not even alloys) so basically i have to change the gearbox and the clutch is fine, i found a gearbox off a write off which only drove for 60 miles. Thing is is this a coomon problem with fiat gp gearboxes?
