For quite some time now i have noticed a scoring noise possibly coming from the front wheels or discs but only when turning harsh round a bend at high speeds (pushing car to limits basically), has anyone got any ideas to what this could be? or does anyone else have simular problem?

Cheers

alryt mate
i think that i may have the same problem to me it sounds like a metal rubbing noise. i have just change my front pads and checked the discs, the discs are fine so i duno what i could be, maybe a bearing?

good to know im not the only one, although sorry to hear you have the same problem. i wouldnt of thought a bearing would sound like that.........possibly though

i also changed my discs and pads, as they needed doing anyway despite this problem but like you found out this didnt cure the problem.

Sounds like wheel bearings or the CV joints on the drive shafts have worn.
Is it the same when going left and right , or just one side?

ok thanks, might have to be a warrenty job just thought if it was something less serious id do it myself as its pain taking it into fiat and that.

Em not too sure would have to check as when i discovered it i went round the roundabout several times but only the correct way which is turning right, i didnt have the balls to go round the other way haha

Find an industrial estate at 2am!

For something like this it's well worth taking one of the technicians out for a quick drive when you drop the car off to show them exactly what you are hearing. If you don't , chances are they will drive it up the road and back and say "no noises heard"

Have a look at the back of the disc, i had this problem and it turned out to be a stone deflector/shield that was catching on raised lip on the edge of the disc, pull it back out so theres about 2/3 mm clearance and it should be fine!!

Let me know if it was this!!!

i had a thought it may have been that back when i changed my rear pads as i noticed that was awfully close, plus when i caught it with a screwdriver it slightly resembled the scoring sound.

will have a look when weather is better, thanks will let you know the outcome

exactly what I was thinking, I has a stone sitting in the top of the front caliper, that would rub on the disc when turning, easy cure was take the wheel off, remove the stone :) could just as easily be the deflecter as the quoted post says ...

check the heat shield

Jack your car up and take the wheel off, turn the disc and see if its rubbing your pads, i had a similar sound, turned out to be a warped disc. Not sure why but it was worse when turning.

aint had the chance due to the weather been ****, have you not seen news lately lol bad flooding in my area (north East) will try have a look this weekend as in know it should be a quick fix

My 106 does exactly the same, and thats been diagnosed as a wheel bearings. I know its a different car but it I hope it helps :)
