Did I tell you peeps my Grande Punto 1.4 16v Sporting died the other week when i drove through a flood. Because my GSR was sat so low, it just sucked a few gallons into the engine and completely desrtroyed it.

RAC towed it to their garage, and I got a quote of £4500 for a new engine and labour. Engine had to come from Italy.

Rang up Direct Line, and its covered for engine water damage, thank god I told them about the GSR!

So, I only had my excess to pay, £375. Not bad for an entire new engine.

Got it back this morning, all cool except my dam Air Con is not working at all, nor is the seat belt ping alarm for not having it on you when driving off.

So I will ring them again tomorrow. Probably have the dam thing another week. :(

Moral of the story, don't forget and drive through floods with a GSR fitted!!

You lucky lucky individual........

there was a post in the Panda section that was closed after sniping about the infamous GSR and its drinking habit due to it's mounting position on the new panda............

which cropped up at the meet on monday at Castleford (saw how low they sit on the GP and knowing my route to work with large amounts of standing water im sticking with the OEM air box....

as for teh Air con could be a few things loss of gas. been my odds on favourite .....

seatbelt buzzer check the menu they might have updated your software giving teh option to turn it on or off

Mobile technician came to my workplace today and sorted tne none working air conditioning.

The garage had forgot to re-gas the air conditioning after installing the new engine. DOH!

All fine and groovy now.

I have the original air filter back on also. :D

Anyone know where to get a K&N to replace the existing air filter please. i'll just go that route now.

All i can say mate is you're one very lucky individual and thank god you told the insurance company, otherwise you would well and truly up the creek lol.

It was a very costly lesson, though could have been far more expensive, but at least you know now anyway.

Hopefully all with GSR kits fitted will take note and not make the same mistake (y)

I really dont get how people forget how low GSR kits sit.
Ditto, when I had my Stilo I always had it in the back of my mind to stay away from deep standing water, infact any standing water just to be on the safe side..

Been very lucky there, cause really there would be no one to blame but yourself.

I think I already mentioned it was my own fault in the moral part of my original post.

Even so, I still think the GSR sits way too low for my liking. :D

Yep, very very lucky.

Even luckier really, as my car was due for its second service, and I have now got my Air con regased for nothing also. :slayer:

Very, very lucky you declared your GSR. Should have upgraded to a T-jet :p lol

How about the council? Road's shouldn't be in the condition some are in, equaling in said standing water.

Point taken but everyone knows how low the GSR sits, can't speak for other people I guess but when I had my Stilo it was always in the back of my mind in bad weather.

to the original post did it just grind to a halt? warning lights? what happened upon entry of the puddle?

i went threw one about 15mins ago not at stupid speed it was a blind area and a sudden dip i pulled over shortly after had a look and a feel and the cone isnt soaked but its deffinately wet and the undertray has been soaked i started it up a couple times drove and then off n on again and had a good listen nothing seems to be the matter im just worried now
