Had my Grande punto t-jet for a few months now and have had a problem with it from when i bought it (Brand New).

It appears to be happening when warm, in any gear under gentle acceleration it will suddenly lose power, dropping to 1000rpm when this happens i can put my foot right to the floor yet the speed and revs continue to drop. Yet as soon as i take my foot off the accelerator and re apply it off i go again.

The car has been in to my local dealer 4 times now.

1st time they said no problems found.

2nd time they replaced throttle body and alternator.

problem continued...

3rd time they said no problems found.

4th time they said no problems found.

And yet there is definetly still a problem!!!

Am now in contact with fiat direct as i feel the car is actualy dangerous as it did it joining a dual carriage way and ended up joining it at about 20mph!!

Anyone have any ideas?

cheers.

well my local dealer had there so called 'master technician' look at it for 3 hours the other day and he done loads of tests and ran diagnostics and got wiring diagrams from fiat and still cant find anything.
Do fiat ever replace cars?

cheers.

They wont replace the car. Just replace components on it. I understand its frustrating them not finding anything but if the car isnt loosing power when they have it there isnt alot they can do. Have you got them to go out on a test drive with you to see if it does it?

they have taken it out on a short test run, but i need the car and as i am only 18 i am to young to have a courtesy car however they are trying to sort out paying my insurance company to insure me on a car. not sure what one, she just said she would talk to the sales team about getting me one, as they need to keep the car for how ever long it takes for the problem to occur whilst they are driving it. VERY ANNOYING!! lol.

Have you been out and driven the car with a DET in the passenger seat? If i was you i would ring up your insurance company and ask them yourself as a dealer cannot do that for you.
