Technical Whats Wrong?

Didn't think of asking for the code! The mechanic did say there was a chance it might be out of date to the codes Fiat use now and advised me to go to Fiat and let them have a look. The check engine light has now been switched off and i have driven the car without putting it under too much load and the light has stayed off.
Do you think the K&N panel filter may be causing it? is is worth doing a few hundred miles to see if the ECU can adjust? Either way i will book it in with Fiat today, i have a creaky seat i need sorting anyway!

Apart from the error code did the tech check your brakes as you said the pedal had to go further to slow the car, sounds like spongy brakes to me.

No as the error code was pointing him to the MAP sensor! Car still stops well just the pedal feels different..more progressive actually.

I 've got a kn panel installed 2 months now, NO check engine lights no error codes from the day I installed it, this filter is not the pandora's box. over 6000 km since that day nothing happened.
in order to let your ecu learn that somethig is new (e.x. filter) you have to disconnect the negative pole of the battery for a minute (5 minutes is my trick but I live near a FIAT store) and then drive for 3 hours aprox. the way you want (fast for agressive maps or economic for mild maps) and you will have to stop the engine every 15-20 minutes... 3 hours driving doesn't have to be done in single day you just have to do the same driving...
manifold sensor and map sensor are two different things; manifold sensor senses inlet pressure and temperature past turbo and ic, just before air enters your engine, while map sensor compares what your engines does to what your ecu asked it to and takes data from your manifold sensor, lamda sensor (O2), fuel injectors, esp main module, abs module, climate control, throttle sensor, and lots of other I can not describe in english...
you have to excuse me for the long post but imo you must find an other mech with at least up to date error codes...

when i had a esp/hill holder error it was a faulty brake/clutch pedal switch.. i forget which one it was

Starting use a few more revs in the car now, light has still stayed off so thats good! One thing i have noticed with the K&N filter i wasn't really expecting any performance difference but i seem to have a small flat spot between 2-3k rpm but after that the car goes like a scud missile!

i have the same prob with the flat spot could be the egr but i also have the k&n panel filter.

had the lights come on when i had my crash they went off after restarting it again so could be the cars panic mode

Mines a T-Jet so doesn't have an EGR valve! Just gave it a bit too much welly on the way home and the frigging light has come on again! Even worse some chav in a golf tried undertaking me, put my foot down and no power! bloody limp mode.........

Car needs a new MAP sensor!
Part ordered and booked in for Friday, they need to "put it down the line" to see if its covered under warranty. They seemed confident it would be covered. What you think?

Well Perrys of Portsmouth have had my car all day fitting a new manifold sensor. Picked it up at 4pm. Asked if they had test driven it to see if they had corrected the fault and they said yes. Got into the car and within 3 minutes i was back in the dealership with the same lights on my dash. Its so frustrating!! And they can't fit my car in again till NEXT friday and if i want a courtesy car not until the 30th!! 24 days away!!! I think thats pretty crap to be honest! But anyway rant over, anyone here got any ideas what the problem could be? Diagnostics points to the manifold sensor but thats been replaced so it not that. Could it be a cracked manifold or something?

Yeah not best pleased. At the end of the day i just want my car fixed and if they can do it on friday i can forget about it! They couldn't tell me for sure if continuing to drive my car about will cause any lasting damage either but as they can't offer me a courtesy car for 20 odd days i have no choice as i need it to get to work! I have really enjoyed owning this T-Jet i will be gutted if i lose faith in it

as T said thats shocking customer service seeing as they supposedly fixed the problem minutes before, should have taken it straight back in until they had fixed or at least found the real problem. (n)
