General White Smoke From A T-Jet?

Hello all, I've been a dirty lurker for about a month now, made the jump and now I'm a member..
Just had a question to ask as I've exhausted the FF search function as well as Google, and only a human response now, will stop me from going mental;

I (was) looking to get a T-Jet in the next few months so I had a test drive of a T-Jet yesterday and, amazing as it is to drive.. There seemed to be quite a lot of dense white smoke coming from the exhaust on slight acceleration - only for a few minutes after startup mind, but as I said I've searched everywhere to find similar experiences only to return empty handed.
I thought at first that it may be standard procedure for the turbo but I read a few posts on here stating that some individuals don't experience ANY white smoke on startup.
Any ideas?

Additional details: Never drove a turbocharged car before.

It wasn't an especially cold day, but the engine was cold yep.

If it's cold will just be the equivalent of you seeing your breath on a cold day.

Long as it goes away after the engines warmed up your ok.

So you're posting a query about a car you don't own?

Even if that was a problem with the car, which I don't believe it is, it's just a test car, their problem innit!

But yeah, a lot of cars produce bits of smoke, if it clears when warm theres nothing to worry about. It's when it gets worse when warm that you should get worried!

It is most probably just condensation. Scary eh

Right, but it was dense (plumey) smoke, so didn't appear to me to be condensation.

Long as it goes away after the engines warmed up your ok.

This is what I was thinking but the fact I'd read posts on here about many owners not seeing any smoke got me somewhat concerned.

It may have been condensation but it was quite dense, I've never seen that much smoke come out of an exhaust before.. Could condensation be this dense just because it's a turbo?

Either condensation or just running rich on coldstart. Either way sounds like nothing to worry about...even if it was your car!


Can get white smoke with head gasket failure.

Blacker smoke when turbo seals go and start to burn oil.

Thanks for clearing my mind, the smoke had gone after it warmed up and the reason I was concerned, I neglected to mention it was quite a nice looking bit of kit and I was considering buying that very one.

Only thing that bothered me was that there was no queries on it anywhere but what you say makes sense.
