Technical forge braces on 1.9 multijet

for the short time i had them on, yeah it made a difference, everything seemed tighter if you know what i mean! i had mine fitted the day i had it lowered and new tyres so the difference was amazing, then took them off the next day and made a difference!

i really wish i could put mine back on!

FORGE if your listening ill come down and let you have a look so you could maybe make a modified part!!!

has anyone found a way round the knocking? i really dont wanna get rid of mine cus i liked it when they was oon but the banging was too bad to put up with!

Are you sure that it's on properly( and by that, i mean the bolts)? Because i took a picture from mine when it was on and it doesn't seem to be really close to something. I'll post it later today.

I don't know if it is different on every car. I was very stressed when i got them on, because a lot of people here have that banging problem, and took a picture and it seems impossible to hit anything. I guess the vibration over there is enough to move things really close to the braces( couldn't explain it better:eek:).

Well mine are coming off at the next service in a couple of weeks, sick and tired of the knocking noise.

There does seem to be a reasonable clearance from the gearbox mount so therefore I am guessing its down to the natural (or not!!) movement of the engine/transmission under load.

I can only assume there are two different mounts available across the range. We've had quite a few 1.9s and 1.4s in now and not a single one has knocked. On the first 1.9 we had in, we used a 3ft breaker bar with two of us leaning against it and still the gearbox mount was ~10mm from the bar.
Ive said this before and i'll say it again - anyone WITH the knocking can come down here and we'll work out why and look at changing the design.

my car has a worn gear box mount. not sure but maybe people with it knocking also have a worn gear box mount. if mine still knocks next week after the new mount im selling them

Decided to check the gearbox mounts at the service and replace if necessary and give the braces another go.

i couldnt bear the banging so sold my braces. but now i think my gearbox mount is worn, theres a knocking sound when you first set off and come to a stop. this is with no braces fitted! fiat said the top mounts, drop links are ok etc, so must be bottom mount..... :bang:

I wonder if theres a link then to a worn gearbox mount and these braces  Theres been more than one report of worn mounts on cars that have/had the braces fitted....

i think you could be right, the mounts aren't very strong, then add the remap, well only makes it worse. wonder why there are no aftermarket/upgrade ones available,? most other cars you can get them, e.g seat and vag

im having mine replaced tomorrow. would defently be interested in an upgraded one though mate good work. how is yours any way since the new one/
