has anyone done this? i found a thread on here on how to blank it off, so i did it.

its made so much of a difference, as my car is remapped, it used to smoke quite a bit, now it hardly does it at all, and mid range power is greatly improved, alot more responsive!

your releasing poisionous Nox gases into the atsmophere now, without the EGR to return these gases

also, the egr only opens at part throttle, so what your saying, basically says that every one who puts there foot down in a car with a normal egr, is emitting NOX into the atmosphere......so how can you stop that?!?!

Sounds quite interesting. Did you just simply block it off leaving all the piping there?

yes sure did mate, look at that thread i linked to above, shows tep by step how to do it,

you basically stop the egr from putting exhaust gases into the inlet manifold, as i said before, the vag and seat/audi forums all talk about removing the egr all together, i know a few guys who have done it with an "allard race pipe" which is legal to buy etc, so cant see why its illegal or harmful blocking it off. heres what allard say about blocking removing the egr, to give you an idea what you can expect :)

Get rid of all the problems associated with faulty or leaking EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) systems. Power Pipe kits replace exhaust gas re-circulation (EGR) valve assembly, for improved performance, thermal efficiency, fuel consumption and smoke emission. Eliminates tar and sediment build up inside inlet manifold, which in turn reduces air flow. Also improves thermal efficiency by reducing heat build up in the inlet manifold. The Power Pipe has no internal restrictions, unlike the original EGR valve assembly, all these benefits combine to give improvements in overall fuel consumption and performance with a reduction in exhaust smoke.

what about all the cars without an egr?

they are not subjected to EOBD emission regulations hence higher tax brackets.

End of the day the EGR is there for a reason (3 infact) and technically you are breaking the EOBD regulations as you are modifying the EOBD system, also you are raising cyclinder head temperature & risking blockage of oilways & premature turbo failure (see renault & alfa forums)

A modified 'swirl' gasket will give improved pick up without resulting to removing/blanking EGR.

i wouldnt go to fiat to buy a "modified gasket " ! as they should make the egr valve work properly from the start, not use cheap fixes

Modified gasket has nothing to do with making it work properly.

well from reading previous posts on the modified gasket, what your saying contradicts all the people who purchased the gasket, its purpose is to cure faults associated with the egr not functioning properly, engine hesitation etc, when the egr valve sticks open etc. if the egr fitted to the multijet and many other fiat engiones worked as it should from the start, there would be no need for the "modified gasket"

I agree it helps preventing the EGR getting carboned up faster.

my final say on this subject of emissions and certain people thinking blocking my egr is the end of my childrens world..........

if you are all really that bothered by things such as blocking egrs, emissions, then why the hell do you own a car? if you honestly gave a toss about the environment, you wouldnt even own a car! does your boiler at home have an egr valve on it??? does it bother you about the emissions from that? lol you could go on.....but i wont.
