Engine is too small to see benefit from twin turbos. Far too small infact.

Yes its possible. Can twin charge any car you want just a case of having enough 's and someone stupid enough to do it for you.

Re: Upgrade 1.4 t-jet

Well the Scharge and turbo it but its the same principle. You use a tiny turbo that spools up quickly low down and then a bigger one to pick up when the first turbo trails off.

Re: Upgrade 1.4 t-jet

Wow im seriously out of touch.

One thing i dont understand thou is that matt said he can get about 30mpg out his Tjet when hes driving sensible. Well if you drive a 5.0l 200mph BMW M5 sensible you can return probably just shy of that. (granted when you nail it you get about 6mpg but not talking about that).

So why all this frugal small engine malarky?

Re: Upgrade 1.4 t-jet

Because people higher up like the Govt etc, haven't got a f***ing clue about cars, engines etc. And they think Co2 output is the most important factor (hence why they push for diesel engines). Smaller engines even if it uses more fuel outputs less Co2.

And tbh you'd struggle to get near 30mpg in an M5 no matter how you drove it.

Re: Upgrade 1.4 t-jet

You will get 20mpg out of an M5 at best. Quite a bit of my drive to work is stop start and little opportunity to get out into flowing traffic so most of the time i am pulling off quickly to then end up slowing down again.

Re: Upgrade 1.4 t-jet

I had 40mpg on a T-Jet before. But that was driving better than a granny. i.e not using the rev limiter to pull away and remembering there was a gear higher than forth for cruising.

Edit: That was according to the trip computer anyway.

If it can break 300 miles driving sensible but not corpsing, that'll be fine
Idea how how many miles you can get out of a t-jet from a full tank on the motorway?

I dont expect the t-jet to get as good economy as my 1.2 obviously not, but i do drive my 1.2 with foot to the floor just to get the damned thing to move, and i know its more of a town car not a motorway car so im sure im burning alot more fuel driving at 70/80 in my 1.2 than i would in a t-jet for example.

I'm sure if i drove my 1.2 like a corpse id get alot more mpg... but i also wouldnt get very far before my 60th birthday!

Re: Upgrade 1.4 t-jet

I dont want to start an argument but if your concerned about mpg then seriously, get a diesel. I get 65mpg when i tickle it and 40 when i rag it.

im debating going multijet, ive not test driven either & i gather there performance is much the same... maybe in a race the t-jet would win (untuned), but all im going to use the power for is burning off chavs in there 1.4 fiesta with dustbin exhausts the diesel is more than capable.

Atleast, thats the impression ive got anyway...

Only thing i have against diesel cars in general is the fact they sound.. well... like a diesel

With a Tjet on cruise control at 80mph and the odd [somewhat satisfying] overtake you will get around 42mpg. That's roughly 330 miles per tank. In stop-start, pretty spirited local driving I am getting 38mpg, which is 300 miles per tank. If the wife is away and I'm driving like a hooligan then it hovers around the 30mpg mark, so only 240 miles per tank. - I've assumed 8 gallon / 40 litre tank in those calcs. When I fill up the trip computer normally tells me I have just over 330 miles of range, and if I'm driving sensibly that goes up to almost 400 miles after half an hour or so.
Thanks Blank2k2 thanked for this post
