General Dash Vent Trim (again)

Well that's it sorted for now (done under 2nd year warranty). Didn't go into detail with the dealer about what they did cos they also changed the plates after I pointed out they were missing the plate maker and bsau 145d markings (they put those plates on the car when I bought it). We agreed to disagree on the law (I saw it is, they say it ain't).

can't you just glue it down? mines sticking up a few mm... doesnt really bother me but i'd just try superglue if it got any worse..

Hey guys, sorry but this has just happened to me and I'm not under warrenty. Anyone know how much on average dealers charge for the repair?

Thanks.

Paid £32 a couple of months ago fitted at a dealer. Mind you it is already starting to deform a bit again.

Mine has the exact same problem! Is silicone worth a go and then weighing it down overnight? Or is buying a new part easier and less hassle? If so then does anybody know the part number?

mine is starting to lift on the right hand side, i was thinking silicon to but possibly super glue if it desides to be stuborn. I didn't realise it was such a common problem :)

That's what I heard, as me and my partner thought something had happened more serious.

Mine bangs as well - normally after I've had the heater on for a while and then it warps just enough for the clip to come undone and pops up with some force. Scared the hell out of me the first time it did it!

Has anybody successfully repaired this issue using araldite or something similar?

I think i'd just find some heat proof glue (assuming such thing exists) and stick the thing down myself. Why give dealers money to put right something which shouldn't be wrong in the first place?

Fiat obviously fit cr*p trim to the Grande Punto & the replacement bits obviously haven't been modified (suprise suprise) so why bother spending good money to get an equally poor piece of trim fitted?

Just fix it yourself people, then it'll probably look like it should've done from the factory if the workers hadn't been too busy arguing about break times & strikes

Yeah, this is a really weird recommendation, but I am gonna try some (heat proof) glue such as Araldite, and use a chamois pad to wedge the trim down!

PS the chamois pad fits really well in wedging the trim down, I know this as ive been driving around for the past few weeks with a chamois pad in my line of sight annoying me, but keeping the cr**py trim down!

Just bought some evo stick serious glue, will see how that works and let you all know!

Going to take mine out (dash trim) myself and have a look at it. See if I can find a way of fitting it with glue. I do not fancy dripping superglue over the dashboard, make some mess. Anyone actually removed their trim? What should I look for? Also what about the plug in the middle, does it come out with the trim, or is it removed first, before trim is removed? ePER is not very clear. It shows two separate parts for trim and for plug.
I have given up moaning about my car, life is too short. However, It was back in again last week for two springs and a wheel bearing. Got it back with bulkhead fittings damaged (where they had removed trim to get at strut upper fittings). Arnold friggging Clark!

Just did a further search and T has advised elsewhere that there are five clips along the front. So it looks like it just needs yanked out. Anyone got an image of the trim removed from the dash? Or an image of a new part?
